Thanks for your comment - if an OLED panel live up to 4 years before distracting burn-ins then it's a reasonable buy for the quality and responsiveness benefits. I'm willing to take that risk - also every new model usually have better life time and new benefits

@@yavormitev8388 Got my LG C9 in March 2020. No imagine retention or burn-in whatsoever.

My CX which I use as a monitor has 11,500 hours on it, mostly productivity and no burn in. But I also keep the backlight at 40 and the display in SDR mode when not gaming, which drastically lowers the peak brightness, and I suspect... drastically reduces the rate at which the pixels decay. But I think they have also added more burn-in prevention features and increased the size of the red subpixel between when our displays were produced.

​@@nerdstrangler4804 brightness is a big part of it :) I have a S8+ phone and it has captured me on OLED. After 5 years I have some slight burn-in, but no regrets. As we learn about OLED screens, we get better at taking care of them. Love my LG CX from 2020 and my next monitor will also likely be OLED.

I use my pc for a couple like 2hrs a day and on weekends maybe up to 5hrs when playing games. I was using a oled tv for about a year, i initially noticed the screen is nowhere as bright as it used to be, when it was new I used to be comfortable with it on 100% brightness and it would still be visible during the day with curtains opened, after about a year it was just not being enough and colors where also not as good, then i noticed burnin on white loading screens or on videos when there is a White background or maybe explosion. When i noticed it even if it was a small amount it really drove me mad. I started looking out for it and i saw it all the time and it made using my pc annoying as i started turning of the monitor when i leave even to go to the bathroom for one second, i really hate hiding the windows taskbar but i did so to avoid more burn in i just couldn't take it anymore.I even noticed it on my OnePlus phone. I bought a neo g7 43" to replace my main screen and i downgraded my OnePlus 8 to a realme x3 superzoom, oled has left a bad taste in my mouth and i really dislike it. Yeah when it's new it's a 10/10 but already after a year it's not a 10/10 anymore, i rather get a lcd with miniled which will be a 8/10 or 9/10 forever untill i decide to upgrade or it breaks for other reasons. Not because the pixels are dying slowly. I hate oled, already upgraded my phone 3 times because of burn in and not because I actually needed to upgrade. And to be honest my lg oled looked better when new but after just a year it looks worse than any standard lcd. Really a 10/10 that goes down to a 6/10 in a year of use is not worth it for me over a 9/10 which remains a 9/10 forever

And the CX had such an amazing BFI implementation. Makes no sense to remove it.

I am a recent glossy convert due to my 48CX. Honestly, I remember glossy monitors being a nightmare back in the day and constantly having to battle sunlight by putting blankets and things over the windows (didn't know about blackout curtains back then) if I wanted to use my computer during the day. It was only thanks to the allure of OLED I was willing to give glossy another shot, and figured I would just buy blackout curtains or whatever, but surprisingly reflections haven't been an issue. I think due to advancements in brightness, anti-reflective coatings and polarizers etc. glossy screens look a lot better and don't have nearly the drawbacks that they used to. Granted I am also using one of the highest end displays on the market. So I have no idea if the experience transfers to midrange and budget displays. I suspect a lot of people are like me and so scarred from trying to use crappy glossy monitors in poorly light controlled rooms that they just completely wrote them off. Probably going to be a long uphill battle for manufacturers to convince people to want glossy monitors. Because even though I am now a convert, if I had the option to buy a matte OLED at the time, I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

sounds good! how long do you use the monitor over the day? what are your brightness settings? sometimes i feel like burn-in happens more to 100%-brightness-all-day-every-day-monitors. but that's just a guess.

​@@randomrick Typically 100% HDR on the 1000nit mode. Only times I'm not at that level are very specific bits of work wherein the aforementioned grey suites aren't grey, but blaring fucking white. Though that's more about burning my eyeballs out than anything else. I do use a motion background that keeps things in motion when I'm not 100% window size though, and am very very careful with my screensave on/off times.

I have to amend this - I managed to burn in some halo infinite UI elements over the weekend last. A pox on having the flu and nothing else to do. So that was I guess just under a year before burn in occurred.

@@ProfessorJohnny69 I mean, probably like 8 hours total across 2 days. It looks like there was some kind of tipping point, because the panel is now showing retention of things that I've only used since, and pretty constantly move around in the UI. (3d app sidebars etc)

A very well tuned TN panel could reach 1.8ms average, and don't forget this is meant to be a brand new panel. Maybe the panel will struggle to get 1.8ms across the refresh rate range, but realistically it only really needs perform well at it's maximum refresh rate since it's only really for a handful of esports titles. I think there is close to zero chance we will be seeing any of these 240hz oled monitors being used in esports tournaments (at least in csgo). The real battle will be whether or not the new 540hz panel gets adopted over the XL2566K with it's 360hz Dyac, and I would guess that 360hz dyac will be marginally sharper than 540hz sample and hold. Zowie also has the massive advantage of being the encumbant in the esports space, both amongst tournament organisers and players.

@@Slixbrah not even close to 1.5ms. Is more around 2ms with 25% overshoot and around 1.8ms with 50% overshoot. That is unacceptable in my opinion. Overshoot destroy any clarity and the picture looks way worse than every 120Hz Oled. Oled has no overshoot and will also don't have any overshoot at 240Hz.

I would never touch a TN panel I don't care how good the refresh rate is.

@@iPain3G Overshoot is naturally lower the higher the refresh rate is. I would be surprised if this monitor didn't have high refresh rate compliance when it's finally released, given the length of time it has been in development and the increased specs over time.

If i remember correctly, you can use a dp 1.2 cable for dp 1.4 or even 2.0 and it works just fine with all the features. Correct me if i am wrong.

I think that if someone is savvy enough to notice the speeds, they would know what cable they need. Could be wrong, but that's what I expect.

The contrary might be true. Several people (including me) commented that their included DP cable that came with the G7 has issues. Nothing major but it would suggest a lower quality cable. You can find these comments on LTT's DP cable test video

@@Kubose The PG27AQN is a amazing panel imo. I have tested it on most games and vrr works great for me. One thing about Asus is the firmware support they offer so I'm sure if there's an issue they can fix it.

I once got a high end Asus monitor, which came with lots of congratulatory claims of "VIP service". Truth was they offered exactly NO service, just pointing fingers at the G-sync module, as if that was some third party accessory. It's a component of the monitor, so it's the manufacturer's responsibility. That doesn't mean it's a *good* component.

Yes you can make a matte screen glossy and vice versa... ebay has sheets of screen protectors you can buy. And I would argue the further the distance of the matte laminate the worse the effects are, so it should really be as close as possible to the pixel and therefore they should default to matte. As for the "majority of users" statement, in reality its not an opposite they diffuse light that hits the surface reducing the peak brightness of a light source viewed as a reflection, which is what you want. If you want to see your eyes staring back at you in the middle of the night be my guest...

@@ilusjon Screens are glossy by nature. Mate film doing all worse collecting all the light even from sides, crushing contrast to smth like 1:300 even in softly-light room. Glossy screens can be covered with anti-glare coating (commonly used on TVs screen, reducing reflection to smth like Fresnel IOR 1.1), matte cannot. I do no accept heavy spoiling image of matte film. "Dave2D How Has Nobody Made This Before" (search on KZfaq) showed what I knew since first LCD began to appear in CGI studios.

Interger scaling is mostly for old games, e.g. SNES emulators, where you want that authentic blockiness imo.

There's a few KZfaq videos claiming the firmware version 7 is 500 nits brightness and considerably brighter than other versions of the firmware, even the newer ones they reverted the brightness back

@@teknonmy7210 The only thing i changed was having a cycling wallpaper with about 6 different images, everything else is normal desktop as ive always used. You do need to enter the service menu though on the TV which is either a remote for 10$ or using software on PC.

Was about to write the same. If anything, strobing would probably make an OLED display look worse since you now have two transitions per frame instead of one, essentially doubling the response times.

Qdoled is far superior to woled. 240hz is nice on paper, but 165 v 240 is much less important than 60v144hz.

Stay away from DWF. Despite what HUB says here, th re is a big difference I'm between not having a Gsync module. The DWF has lots of issues with gamma flicker, tone map tracking and HDR

I went with s95b 55 last year and haven’t had a single issue. Very nice tv for pc gaming at 4K.

I was playing Witcher 3 next gen on my 55" s95b last night.

It's probably going to be the same review as the AW QD-OLED since they both have the same panel from Samsung Display. The TV will probably be slightly slower due to the lower refresh rate and picture processing chip since it's a TV.

I love my 65in S95B for 4K gaming, it's a beast. I have it running at 144hz, 10 bit colour with VRR on running off of my 4090 with a few simple tweaks in the Nvidia control panel, it's an absolute glorious gaming experience. I also have the G8 OLED sitting next to it. My S95B has been perfect, not a single issue. Perfectly straight out of the box, not a single issue so far. I also have two of them, both were perfect out of the box.

Anything is possible when money is to be made. There are too many gigantic OLED's on the market to the point of the displays being too saturated because of too many options. Monitor direction is what should be focused on from now on.

@@Kizzster They are going to sell more TVs hand over first than a monitor, that's the reality of the situation. OLED has been specifically made for TVs and the motherglass has been optimized for such use. Until motherglass runs used specifically for monitors begins to ramp up, prices are going to be higher. Let's also just remember that this happens with every new tech with monitors. When 120hz 1440p IPS came out (in response to everyone buying cheap B-tier Korean/Chinese monitors that were overclockable) they were around $800...in 2014.

There is no 4K OLED monitor at 32" if there was those will sell out like hotcakes. There are hundreds of big OLED's models widely available to buy and most people still do not buy OLED, The one that sells the most is the LG C2 which is a bargain.

Sometimes they will lower the temperature in the room that they're doing the response test sin to be able to get better results so they're not false advertising.

All they have to do with oled is rolling scan black frame insertion. Similar to how a crt scans "pixels" onto the screen and thusly fades in the same scan pattern. OLED tvs already use rolling scan black frame insertion. Not using it on gaming oled monitors is just laziness. I even get people saying "i wont use it so they shouldnt do it" well i dont use g-sync so they shouldnt use it. They don't realize how ignorant they are. No one is saying force black frame insertion on at all times, just like g-sync isnt on at all times. But having it as an option to toggle on would be great for those that will use it. Wish my alienware qd-oled had bfi.... The motion clarity in fps games would be night/day.

i have the g8 oled and it does have bfi in the game menu BUT its greyed out whatever i do. There is also bfi in the picture menu which is also greyed out whatever i do EXCEPT when i use the tv's processor for browsing, yt, etc (so not a pc signal). But for pc use i just cant enable it, its always greyed out. I hope they make an update and fix this. And i think they will.

oh man, even if I got 3 years of no burn in using a taskbar -- I would be in heaven. I know not everyone has disposable money, but if OLED is that awesome, I can see just getting a new monitor every 3-5 years, and then just giving the old one to family or friends. 1,000 bucks every 3 years is pretty reasonable in my opinion.

In theory in a lab setting. In practice you will see all kinds of mirror reflections.

On glossy the colours also pop more and bright highlights are higher in detail for example when looking into the sun or sky in games. Matte quality loss is noticeable, Don't get why it's used for OLED's you have per pixel illumination yet it's covered in vegetable grease on top it all.

I was about to buy this monitor, however what threw me back is the Burn In problem. I could see in a store how it already had burn in marks, so I suggest you take care of it. I have thrown away three high-end OLED TVs, and all of them at some point began to show signs of burn-in until later it was impossible to see, and I was careful.

@@martinfodor2848 I definitely do look after my screens and take a few extra precautions. I autohide the taskbar and hide all desktop icons. I use roundedtb to take away the annoying white line left with windows 11 when autohiding the taskbar. I use wallpaper engine and have about 20/30 moving wallpapers set up to change every 2 minutes. I have my brightness set to between 5/8 for desktop / internet browsing. With the montiors inbuilt game mode feature on, windows sees it as a different screen, it keeps the settings you enable for each when switching between both. In game mode I have HDR on and the brightness set to about 35ish. When I'm done gaming I switch it back off to change the settings back to no HDR, lower brightness etc. If I leave my montior for an extended period of time I turn it off and turn it back on when I sit down, same for my 65in S95B too. I don't hide any in game stuff though, I enjoy games the way they're supposed to be. My set up is running off of a 4090 via 2x hdmi cables. I know there is a small risk burn in can happen, for me I'd rather take that risk. With the precautions I take, I don't fear screen burn, but, if it does happen, it happens. Once you go OLED you can't go back, it's just so much better.

Dude , with OLED, there is virtually no difference between 165 and 240. I have the 175hz version and it literally could not be any perceptibly clearer. Better then any 240 non oled I’ve ever used.

@@enzog1078 compared to each other, OLED v OLED. There are indeed input response related reductions between 165(175) and 240. (When capped) That said, I have no complaints with this monitor whatsoever. But, being able to actually produce 35% more visible frames is definitely an upgrade. Just a marginal one ;). I agree overall that OLED 175 is virtually 300+Hz IPS/va/tn. And the pixels are dang lightning quick. Generally my goal with 240 is running with no frame cap to increase my 1% lows. Which in some games, is as low as 130 due to capping at 163. Whereas running uncapped, my 1% lows are closer to 200. It's not so much the high end of Hz range I want to see as much as I want my lows maxed out for maximum butteryness. 13700k/4090 build, fwiw The mathed out difference between 165/240hz is about 1.5ms overall. When we are granular already with the speeds the oleds produce, percentage wise, it's not insignificant. Not to mention, a smoother overall rendering sequence. Yes, I'm fully aware I'm splitting hairs between 175/240 both OLED, but, if they are there to split, split them I shall! Haha

@@OscyJack- why does capping your fps effect your 1% lows? I didn't know that was a thing. I have a similar setup except I'm on a 4080 and a LG C1. I'll usually set a cap of 120 so I don't go over

@@DarkReturns1 lows are always lower than the high and formulaic in nature. So if you prevent the fps from reaching it's max, you in turn also prevent the lows from being higher, if that makes sense. It's an artificial low

@@OscyJack- that doesn't make any sense. That's not how it works at all. 1% lows will be the same regardless. They are caused by bottlenecks in the system or game engine which will vary depending on scene. It could be the GPU, CPU or memory causing the worst frames.

2160p is insane. I switched from a 4K 144hz IPS to a 3440x1440p AW QD-OLED. I use DSR to downscale a higher than native resolution, which helps a ton. But I hope to see an actual OLED monitor at 2160p or 5160x2160 UW. 4090 is the ultimate luxury. I was hesitant but ultimately glad I got one.

Exactly I mentioned this in another comment. When you enable HDR and out both screens next to exchother the DWF colors look wacky as hell. HUB of course doesn't really visualisevthis for the user because alll they show in the reviews is a bunch of charts and numbers - they need to show screens next to each other on video

lol your loss. Only morons get Oled Burn In. It's like throwing your pc in the water then blaming Intel for your pc frying. "Intel fry is a real concern guys". Keep the burn in safety features on, make your taskbar hide when not used, use slideshow or active background, don't leave stuff on your desktop, turn off monitor/when or sleep when not in use, use pixel refresher once or twice a year, and tahhh dahhhh no burn in. Dipshits don't do any of that and leave the same things up for hours on end daily then wonder why they get burn in. I've been using my CX daily for pc use, console, movies, streaming, and my girlfriend is constantly using it while I'm at work for past 2 years and looks as good as it did when I got it. Oh man I agree with this 100% percent. I personally don’t do a lot of productivity on my computer, but I do spend a lot of time behind my computer just browsing and also gaming. I’ll let it’s just a no go for me personally when it comes to PC’a. Yes the image quality is beautiful, but I don’t wanna be worried every time I leave my PC on for hours on end with a lot of static images on the display. Monitors are expensive and a lot of the time I feel like people don’t change their monitor every couple of years and if I have a lot of static images on my screen for many hours throughout the years, I expect burn in to happen fairly fast. When I buy a monitor I want to plug it in maybe a few tweaks here and there and that’s it and if I want to leave my pc on for hours on end with a lot of static images I want to be able to do that without any worries

Short lifespan + high price. Of course they would be happy to sell it. That's why it's hyped so much now.

Some are holding out until 2030 when MicroLED displays are under $1000. But they don't realize the tech industry will be dangling a new tech by that time claiming MicroLED is garbage in comparison. Maybe they bring out SED displays that should have came to market decades ago. 😄

Oh boy Holywood would cry so loud that an unlocked FPGA with open source on it would be able to get around the HDCP encryption somehow or something. And Nivida would hate if people make it work better with AMD GPUs. And it also wouldn't exactly instill confidence that the factory testing / certification is still valid that right now, which currently is the main selling factor for those G-Sync monitors as far as I understand.

You dont have to at all. I use my 2019 OLED as monitor and it has no burn in. Just set brightness to ~50%. Pixels on OLEDs wont really care about that.

Oh and what's the point of having a better picture with an OLED if you then have to lower the brightness making the picture bad again in comparison to an LCD which you can run at the brightness you want for often over a decade.

I have the same monitor and have had no issues either. When it requests to go into the pixel refresh phase I always let it run.

You won’t have issues with basic use, this is just not an issue now. I used an Alienware 13 for hundreds of hours on Overwatch, no GUI burn in whatsoever. The ONLY thing I did was use auto hide for the task bar, and I don’t think even that was necessary. Mind you, that was a 2016-era panel, nothing like the ones today.

4k is very good for 32", but yea 27" are in a spot where 1440p is too little and 4k is too much.

@@Gragagrogog In the last month, I have tried 48”4k, 38” 3840x1600, 32” 4k, and 34”1440. 38” was a bit too large for that resolution, but otherwise, it was by far my favorite. My 2080ti didn’t struggle with it and the extra pixels (upgrade from 1440) were in just the right places to boost gaming and productivity. In my opinion, 4k adds a ton more vertical pixels that are useless in gaming since they expand your vertical fov. The sky and ground are rarely that interesting. Increase my horizontal fov all day long. I love that…. 1440 for productivity is just a tad too low, otherwise, I would just stick to that resolution.

Not true. My alienware has 3 years warranty. But users are already seeing burn in. Not even been a year yet.
