Ordered the wera tool you advised. Worked perfectly on my Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph 600m. No jewellery tool was loosening those tiny screws, and didn't want anyone else attempting to move them or accidentally scratching the link. Thank you for the video.

Very very helpful, also bought my Seamaster during lockdown and had to resize, bought the screwdriver and link tool you used. Also bought a hobby magnifying glass with light - must be my age, but that really helped to make sure the screwdriver and screw slot were lined up

Thank you for coming to the rescue. I still don't understand why the pin wasn't fitting far enough in the hole so that I had problems getting the second screw in. I managed in the end but not sure what I did different.

I have a screw down crystal press and that holds the bracelet down flat and can't move. then I get my "140" sized screwdrivers with rubber non-slip grips on both sides and it's super easy. I don't need no masking tape stuff as my technique is too solid.

perfect tutorial, cheers! One question... will the screws fall out when i didnt use loctite?
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch 4 жыл бұрын
Julian Preisinger no, but you would need to apply more torque to the screw to tighten it. This can mash the screw head a little. Using Loctite you don’t need to apply as much so less likely to damage the screw. To be honest, as long as you use a decent quality screw driver, you should be ok. The screws are tiny, so the damage will not be obvious. Good luck.

Thanks for the video, quick question - did you need to heat up the screws? Do they really come out that easily? (Assuming the had lock tire on them)
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch 2 жыл бұрын
They did come out pretty easy. I have heard that they can be a little difficult though. If so, heat with a hair dryer or submerge in hot water. Obviously protect the watch head as you don’t want to get heat into it. Try avoiding direct flame as this can discolour the link. If you damage a screw head, don’t panic. Either use one of the screws from the spare links or order some in from Omega.

I’m sure you’d be better looking to get it polished out rather than replace as the links aren’t cheap. Worth asking your Rolex AD.

No, the AT has a double deployant clasp, but I think does have half links, so should be easy to get the right fit. It’s super comfortable.

I'm just about to resize my Omega AT, why did you not try using heat instead of tapping the watch which could cause damage?
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch 3 жыл бұрын
The tapping is only to release the pin so I don't have to unscrew the opposite side. Use heat if the screws are stiff, but mine weren't.
@ScepticFrog
@ScepticFrog 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheEnglishWatch Thanks, just done mine also with a 1.8mm flathead screwdriver. The screws were not stiff and I didn't need to tap the heads, relatively easy job but you have to be very precise when fitting the screws back in!

if you need to remove two to three links, do you need to take one link from each side or . . .
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, remove links to balance the clasp so it remains parallel to the watch head. Normally if removing even numbers you take an equal number off each side. If odd, it depends how the folding part of the clasp sits on your wrist.

@@TheEnglishWatch I have the 1.6mm from Panerai..it won’t easily strip and slip the screw head as it has left and right support resting on the screw head..yes it is easily broken if over torque..I tried your method on the Tudor BB41 using 1.4 normal chesel flat head driver and it works too..😁👍🏻

These links are damn near impossible to unscrew. The microscopic screws are practically welded in there they are so tight. I destroyed my hand just trying to take out two links.

It can be that the screws have too much thread lock on them. I haven’t tried it, but I understand you can use heat to ease this.

I’m a big fan of Omega watches especially the Speedmaster moon watch even the current model 2021 “ When come to their bracelets design are real pain in the ass “ Those tiny screws to secure both end was too small for anyone to hold on to it “ In any case u drop one ...u have hard time search for it “ The research design department was far from their deep sleep in dreamland “

They can be tight. You can try warming with a hair dryer, that can work. Sometimes, you need to sacrifice the screw and order a new one from Omega. I’ve called their service team before and had stuff sent out free.

Yes. I have found that on both my Omega and Rolex. Omega changed all the screws FOC when it went in for some work last year. Looks like new now. I have acquired some genuine Rolex screws and will change out the mashed ones. Just goes to show, the AD is as likely to burn the screws as the owner.
