I threw away my wedding photos, after my divorce. I got rid of every single thing that bonded us, except our kids and the love letters he wrote me when he was boot camp. I decided to read this again, after 10 years of divorce. It was weird and lovely, at the same time. I saved them for my kids to read, when I'm gone from this earth. They don't know it yet. I just want my kids to know that they were created in a moment of love.

The story of the kidney transplant really got to me. My husband was on dialysis for nearly 4 years before he went to the Lord. He never made it to the transplant list, but he always said when he finished a job, it was time to move on to something else. I think he had checked off all his "jobs" before he left me, but he's still in my heart and dreams every day.

In seventh grade a boy passed me a beautiful love note. That was 1962. I saved it. We were married in 1968, but divorced in 1971. I still saved it. And recently I gave it to our son, so he knows that we were once deeply in love.

Wow, I don't know which love story was my favorite. They were all amazing. From the man who donated his kidney to his future wife, to the man who was lost but insisted on buying flowers for his wife, to the man determined to find a kidney for his dying wife, to Mrs Goose, who visited her recuperating husband, Mr Goose. They were all wonderful. I cried when I saw every story. Thanks Steve Hartman for sharing.

The other one was the story about the man with Alzheimer's, it made me think of my late mother in law, she passed from Alzheimer's disease. She was amazing to me. Thank you for doing these 2 stories. I have some old love letters from a girl I dated in high school. She and her fiancé were killed in a car accident five years ago. They left behind two little girls. And I did consider disposing of them, many times in fact. However, how can I do it now? They’re a connection to someone I cared for who is no longer here. Some people think that holding on to things like that keep you in the past and prevent you from moving forward. I hold with those who think that it’s just nostalgic. It reminds you of what you had and keeps you from forgetting where you came from. And in some cases it gives you something to hold on to.

My husband and I of 15 years are getting ready to move. In our attic he found a box with a newspaper that says “This is war”. I wasn’t sure what it was. Then underneath were my “war” love letters from my marine boyfriend during the Iraq war. I was 20. He was 22. I said, you are my person, but I have to keep war love letters. He agreed. This is why I love him so much. It is history…..and my history. And he embraced it. Another reason why I love him.

On the last story about Arnold and Amelia, geese are migratory birds and return to the same spot in Canada and here in the US. When their young are ready to fly, they follow the parents here to the US. I live in Phoenix and right mow you can go to almost any park in the area and you will see(no pun intended) a gaggle of geese. Multigeneratioal flocks. The best place to see them is in Tempe at the town lake.
