Oooo talkin my language. I love the Rush series, especially the newer ones but I've recently acquired a Goruck GR1 (grail bag!!) and it takes place of most of my "tactical" craving for a backpack and too is tough as nails. I always recommend 5.11 bags for those who want a quality intro bag because they have proven themselves well for me and are at a decent price. I've had good luck with LA Police gear pants but have yet to try a bag. I'll check them out. Thank you for the recommendation!

Ooo Mystery Ranch is great, I have a little experience with their packable bags but no hands on experience with the Rip Ruk. What features on these make them your top? Is there anything specific about these packs that outshine others like them? Or is it that magical unexplainable feel you get when you use them? lol I know it's real.

@@Jfree441 for me it’s the magnetic quick closure along with being 15l which is just enough room for EDC. Any less room and I don’t have room for anything I accumulate in a day, any larger and I find myself stuffing it with junk. Water bottle pocket is also elastic so it fits anything while also collapsing on itself when not in use.

That is such a shame. I used hand-me-down LL Bean gear for YEARS and they warrantied it without question. It's a shame they no longer support heirlooms. It's what LL Bean always represented.

Can't beat the build and durability but the comfort is not like modern packs. However, it could be due to my aftermarket bag and not authentic but with my experience in army surplus stuff, it seems pretty close in overall size and shape, just lesser material. I'd love to get my hands on a real surplus medium bag though. Give it a good test.
