BECAUSE THE PLANT NAME PROFESSOR (who gives you your starter) IS THE ACADEMY DIRECTOR. Clavel is Spanish for carnation which is the national flower of Spain. They didn't end the plant tradition, they just made multiple professors with different jobs.

Hes not even all that wrong. Someone did some math b/c of that statement & found that in Gen IV, 94.62% of pokemon were tied to evolution, & as of Gen VIII (bdsp's release) that number was an average of 89.33 across all 8 generations. Saying he's wrong is just pedantic b/c Rowan didn't say that 90% was "precise". He was making an educated estimate

An interesting reason as to (possibly) why Laventon is Galarian: the Meiji era is when Japan's interest in Hokkaido (the island which is the basis for Sinno/Hisui) skyrocketed. At this same time is when Japan also began wanting to be more like western countries. Japan was really sucking up to Britain more than most. As such they would probably look to a British scholar, like Laventon, with heightened prestige.

Laventon isn't necessarily from Galar. He mentions that Copperajah is from his home region in one Pokedex entry, however, Copperajah has an entry saying it came from a region that isn't Galar.

We know Copperajah isn’t in Hisui either so it’s possible. Pretty ballsy to introduce a metal elephant to Galar but it looks like the pokemon are adapting fine

Professors Sada and Turo can be encountered in Scarlet and Violet, respectively, at the Crystal Pool in Kitakami when bringing Terapagos there after the events of DLC 2: The Indigo Disc. The professor will offer you your game's respective book in exchange for the proof copy of "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero", given to the player by Ms. Briar, then gets forcibly returned to wherever he was teleported from, which is heavily implied to be an alternate universe, which, in turn, is likely the other version of the game (Scarlet to Violet for Turo, & Violet to Scarlet for Sada).
