Regardless of your views on Israel and Palestine, this video will widen your perspectives.
The duel-narrative tour that I just had around Jerusalem, by two native Jerusalemites - Yuval (an Israeli Jew) and Samer (a Palestinian Muslim), was life changing, to say the least. It's extremely rare to get a duel-narrative tour of Jerusalem, and I learned more than I ever thought I'd know about the history and politics of Israel & Palestine.
From hearing their real-life stories of growing up in segregated Jerusalem, which challenges they've faced, and how they connect to certain parts of the city - to witnessing them being friends and colleagues today, treating each other equally and with respect - is very humbling and reassuring, and this experience has restored my faith in humanity.
I know there are more Yuvals and Samers out there, either living in Israel/Palestine or elsewhere in the world, who treat each other equally and respectfully, despite their religion and/or differences. Maybe - just maybe - this video will spark a light that will start a movement towards peace for Israel and Palestine. I sure hope so.
This video was by far the most challenging one I've made - from the planning stages, to the on-site shooting (i.e. security checkpoints) and especially, the tedious editing process which took me pretty much 2 full days. I am proud of how it turned out, and I truly hope your perspectives have been opened, or you've learned something new by watching this video.
I welcome your thoughts, opinions and constructive criticism (which I know this will get a lot of)… But I'd like you to think twice about how you say things... If you are going to be an online troll - full of hate and ignorance, and someone who causes further conflict through foolish comments - then please turn your attention elsewhere. I know there are plenty of cat videos on KZfaq that you'll probably enjoy ;)
I will only be responding to carefully thought-out comments, reactions and questions in this thread.

@Luna Artémis The problem is from the state of almost war and distrust between the people. Muslims living in the actual country of Israel with citizenship have the same rights and privilege as jewsih and live generally better than in neighbouring regions. Now, non-citizens living in occupied zones of Palestine are the one suffering, s well as the people in the middle of the bullets/explosives exchanges. If the country was unified under Israel (or egalitarian Palestine) and in peace, or divided into two countries respectful and accepting of the other's existence, then there wouldn't be such problems.

As an Israeli who is a Jew who no longer currently lives in Israel (I live in America) I have learned to respect and learned the other sides of the story. One of my dreams is to speak to people who dislike Israel and really try to hear their story. I understand that we did something wrong I can’t argue that at the same time I think the situation that was formed today is caused by everyone. I wish peace would hurry up

@@krisorder5514 Countless Israeli towns and settlements have been illegally built on top of globally-recognised Palestinian land. These settlements are unequivocal breaches of international law, yet the israeli government faces no consequences. It's an apartheid state because people are treated much differently by the israeli government simply because of the language they speak and the way they worship God. Jewish Israeli Children are charged in the civil court, but Palestinian children who commit the exact same crime are charged in the criminal Court, with much harsher sentences and treatment.

My understanding is that israeli LAW should give equal treatments to its citizens regardless of their religion. Maybe in some cases it was not enforced rightfully?

WoW, Thanks Drew for this platform. I am from Pakistan and have a mission to visit every country in the world (although i am not a full time traveler but i've been to 40+ countries so far). I am really interested in meeting people from different religions and interacted with a couple from Israel in Bulgaria and a guy from Israel in Sri Lanka. After we had spent some time talking, both said that they had a very different image of myself and my country before we had spoken and their perception has somewhat changed, since then i have always wanted to visit Israel and so while working in China, I got in touch with the Israeli consulate in Shanghai trying to check if they can allow me to visit Israel, but didn't really work. Keeping my fingers crossed and looking forward to visit someday but to all Jews in particular and to all humans in general I want to say that I love you as a human. We should switch off our TVs and go to places TVs tell us not to go and meet locals there and we will realize we are all human who love eachother.

The natives are the Jewish people who live in Israel, which is the only autonomous state that ever existed in this region. this is the third time the Jews have rebuilt their state. where was a Palestinian state 70 years ago? why didn't the Palestinians rule over Jerusalem when it was under Jordanian control? when did a Palestinian state ever exist??? never has and never will. 200 years ago a people called Palestinians never even existed.

Thanks for the video. I do have one comment about where you say at the end "the past is the past". Much of the anger you receive in your comments from Palestinians is due to the oppression that continues until this day and the lack of acknowledgement by the international community. Peace is a beautiful thing and many people want it. Unfortunately, There are lots of extreme Muslims & therefore there are many random stabbing attacks that come out of East Jerusalem so there's an underlying fear of all arabs in Jerusalem. You never know what someones real beliefs are. You also have muslims that have worked 20 years for a jewish shop & one day shoots up a bunch of people...That's the sad truth. But it's a great thing to point out that there is some good.
