This version can easily be played in the hand. I was looking for a cribbage solitaire that would work that way, and this one is simple enough that it does. I'm right handed, so in my description I use left for the hand that holds the draw deck and right for the hand that holds the four cards in your hand, but you can switch them, of course. I kept score in my head; more on that later. Draw six cards from the top of the face-down draw deck and turn them over. Keep four of them in right hand, face up. Discard the other two to the crib by placing them, face down, back on top of the draw deck in your left hand. Draw the top four cards of the face-down draw deck. Keep them face down, and put them into your right hand, under the face-up cards. You now have, in your right hand, your hand face up and the crib hand face down. Turn the top card of the draw deck face up, to be the starter card. Score your hand (the four cards plus the starter card.) Then place those four cards face up in the back of the deck in your left hand. Turn the crib hand cards face up. Score them (the four cards plus the starter card,) and place the four cards face up in the back of the draw deck in your left hand. In the video, at this point you put the starter card at the back of the draw deck. The first time I played, I did this, by fanning out my draw deck to find the last of the face-down cards and placing the starter card face down behind it. But that was unwieldy for playing in the hand, so I tried just leaving the starter card on top of the draw deck, to be part of the next six cards drawn, and that seemed to work fine. In practice, I didn’t keep the two hands in my right hand the whole time. After I turned over the starter card and saw what it was, I returned the eight cards to the top of the draw deck, fanning them out to look at them, along with the starter card. Anyway, continue until the last four cards you draw are the last face-down cards in the draw deck. Score them as a hand, and that’s the end of the game. Now about the scoring. Here’s how I did it. Suppose the first hand had scores of 1,2,2,2. So as I look at the card that scores 1, I say “One.” (Maybe out loud, or if I’m in public place, to myself.) As I look at the next scoring cards, I count by twos, saying “Three.” Then “Five, seven.” If I don’t see any more scoring combinations, I memorize the “seven” by saying “seven” several times. Now suppose the crib hand has scoring combinations of 2,2, and 3. I remember the “seven”, so I continue from there as I look at each of the combinations: “Nine, eleven, fourteen.” I memorize the “fourteen.” And so on. If I have to interrupt my game and put it away mid-game, I make a special effort to memorize the last score. If I pick it up hours later, I can probably still remember what the number was. If I have, for example, three of a kind, I don’t think of it as a score of 6. Instead, I look at the three pairs and think of it as 2,2,2, and add those to the score, counting by twos. Counting by twos or threes is easier than adding 6. I tried this while trotting after my husband as he was shopping. I scored 62 (the goal according to the video is 81.) There were a couple of reasons why I suspect the score was so low: 1. I’m not a cribbage player, so I probably missed some combinations. 2. I was adding in my head while running around King Soopers and being constantly interrupted, so I may not have remembered the previous score correctly. But it was a fun diversion, and I think it worked pretty well. I like to keep a deck of cards in my purse for times when I’m out and about. Earlier in the day I was playing follow-the-suit solitaire while waiting in the doctor’s office, and got to wondering if there was a cribbage solitaire that could be played in the hand. My search led me here.

On your fifth deal, you forgot to count an additional two points as the pair of fives and the four and ace all add up to another fifteen. Otherwise, great play!

It doesn't come up during the video, but I assume all scoring from standard cribbage is in play and you'd score "2 for his heels" if the starter card were a jack?

Use a Cribbage board for keeping track of points. Also score hand 1st then the crib. This way you keep it legal during 2 or more player games. I did it and got to 80. I was thinking about doing a double solitaire version. Like a two player but after going through the deck. Start over with the other pegs and see if you can beat the previous pegs.

I’ve played tournament cribbage in the past. Got married to my husband who did not grow up with a love of cards. I’ve tried teaching him cribbage countless times to no avail. I learned Solitaire Cribbage to be able to keep my mind and fingers busy. Computer playing drives me bonkers. I’ve always played SC to 90 points not 81. All those games I thought I lost...SMH! Too funny! 😜

Love that! I’ve found playing against AI a bit frustrating too, there’s never the possibility of missing anything! I think that’s why I fell in love with Cribbage for Grandpas, because you can set their ‘awareness’ and ‘kindness’ levels to help you out and/or be cut through themselves 😆
