Japanese people comes up with fun new ideas weather it’s something to eat or a little fun and cute gadgets. It’s so interesting to watch your video when you introduce to the outside world. I still remember the pizzas you introduced, sooo different from what we are used to in the States. As people say, food is an universal language/interest (at least I say!!). We had a fad last year here in LA area…mochi donuts…I tried it, was good but can’t eat it all the time…gotta watch my weight!!! Thanks for your show, I enjoyed watching it!!!❤

Hi John! This was a fun livestream. I love when you share food items all around Japan. I agree that Japan is very creative with their foods. One of the many reasons I could see myself gaining weight from all the choices of sweet delicacies. You mentioned having a gym membership card. How popular are gyms in Japan? Mahalo John!

Popular I guess. The city gym I thought was filthy. People didn’t wipe the machines after themselves - I guess some guys here need their wife to do that. I was shocked! So I went to a local gym that’s ¥8500 a month. The local city gym has so many rules but is ¥300 a visit. All towns and cities have municipal gyms for residents at cheap prices, sometimes. Little dated though.

@onlyinjapanGO Wow! That price is petty steep for a gym membership. I'm one of the old timers who signed up for a 24 Hour Fitness membership over 20 years ago and have been grandfathered into their membership deal so I only pay $120.00/yr. But I hear you about people not being more considerate about gym hygiene especially after what we all went through back in 2019.

Yes, but in Japanese it’s DO-NATSU 😆 Natsu also means summer. Hmm, makes me think there’s a double or triple meaning to this riddle of a dessert!

John, are there still street-sellers in Japan pulling carts selling YAKI-IMO, and roasted chestnuts 🌰. I remember buying them way back in the 70’s.

Yes, they’re still around, old guys in trucks full of hot rocks and a chimney! And a cassette player and speaker signing YAKI IMO 🎶

Marugame Udon is extremely popular in the Philippines. There's also a similar restaurant called Tsurumaru, but their udon is bland compared to Marugame.

Marugame udon is quite good, maybe because it’s super fresh including the tempura. I like that commitment. In Kagawa, there are SO MANY udon shops though, Marugame is just a chain.

looks delish - was really hoping to get a 'you found me' card from you but sadly didn't run into you during my 14 day stay in tokyo. We were there 6/10 to 6/24 with our stays happening in tokyo, 6/10 to 6/12 - kanazawa 6/13, kyoto 6/13 to 6/15, osaka 6/15 to 6/18, then back to tokyo 6/18 to 6/24. stayed in the hamamatsucho area when in tokyo. trip was a blast!

First off, I would love to try those! Kind of hope they stick around but you're right, those types of fun gimmicks don't last long. And 2nd, that explains maybe as to why when we went on Disney Cruise two years ago, we loved a Chip and Dale decorated door (magnets) so we gifted them a $20 Disney Gift card that they could use on the cruise. (We were going around judging doors and the top 3 won prizes.) Well when we got back from Dinner, we came back to our door covered in some of their Chip and Dale Magnets with a thank you note written in Japanese. Ha! I had no idea. That's cool.

ummm...... @ 3:10 .... you always get the WHAT?!?!?! .... I thought that was a word that means something you8 can't show on youtube, nor can I explain it here in the comments...... So I'm pretty sure I'm hearing it all wrong, so what are you saying??? And what does the dish consist of? I love pretty much ANYTHING Udon!!! It's SOO Satisfyingly CHEWY!!!!! ohhhh nomnomnomzzz!!!!! lol I can only imagine what those donuts are like!!! that chewiness in a big fried sweet ball... YES PLEASE!!!! :)
