Speaking with reporters at Queen's Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford addresses the ongoing controversy surrounding his government's plan to open parts of protected Greenbelt lands for housing development. The premier's news conference comes following the Ontario Provincial Police's announcement that it has referred the matter to the RCMP for a potential investigation, as well as the resignation of Ryan Amato, the chief of staff to Ontario Housing Minister Steve Clark. On August 9, Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk released a report that concluded the government's process for the selection and removal of lands from the Greenbelt was biased and afforded preferential treatment to certain developers.
