Awesome tutorial, if you could make a video how to connect the wireless transmitter and the light I would be appreciate it.

This is great, thank you! Does anyone have advice on using DMX to control basic incandescent style lights? This is what I initially saw in the OP-Z DMX video that drew me to this venture. Your Astera tube is cool, but I'm looking for something really simple / retro looking. Thank you!

Nice tutorial! Do you have some tips on resources to watch when it comes to buying DMX lights and accessories?
@lukejay____4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I honestly had seen and used Astera lights before and so didn’t really shop around for other ones. I am a musician still very much learning about lights! The only video I remember watching was this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJmagMKjx6-wmKc.html which isn’t really a shopping guide but more an explanation of DMX and how it works

Hi there. Nice Video! Thanks for explaining it. Do you know what the shift button‘s function in the OP-Z DMX channel is? The wheels LEDs turn yellow but have no clue.

Nicely done ;-) you left the configure DMX *.json file out, maybe in another video, a more in depth one.
@lukejay____4 жыл бұрын
This is true! But mainly in part that I haven’t actually touched the DMX .Json for this set-up. I might have a deeper look into the .json and follow up with a more in-depth look at more complex lighting set-ups if there’s enough interest in a video like that!

@@lukejay____ Please can you please do this as i currently have a rather expensive paperweight that wont communicate with my light.

Hey thanks,this really helped me. wondering what is the name of that light fixture you are using?

How on earth did you get yours to work. I connected all the recommended gear but with no knowledge on how to program the dmx.json file, i'm kind of stuck with a £200 paperweight. Any ideas on how to continue?

Thank you for the tutorial! Is there a USB-C DMX interface in order to avoid the hub? Seems like an unnecessary step.
@kettlecup3 жыл бұрын
He covers this around 12 mins, the Enttec MK1 should work this way but he said it was unreliable if the OP-Z battery was low so he recommends using the powered hub anyway.

Hi, do you know if the Enttec Dmxis also works with the OP-Z ? thanks !
@lukejay____4 жыл бұрын
Hi! The DMXIS is designed to be used with its VST plugin; so I don’t think it will work with the op-z. I’d ask Enttec direct to be sure!

Great intro.. Is the much cheaper Enttec Open DMX USM interface not possible with this setup?
@lukejay____4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I have not tried this one; however I would suspect that it doesn’t work given this would be easy enough for TE & Enttec to mention and they haven’t. I would presume it comes down to the Enttec Open DMX interface not having any microprocessor inside which the USB DMX PRO MK1 + MK2 both have and could well be integral in getting the OP-Z playing ball with the interface! Like I said I don’t know for sure but would doubt it
@ENTTECofficial4 жыл бұрын
Hi Giles! Not sure if TE ever tested the Open DMX USB, but we did eventually test it with an OP-Z ourselves (generally expecting it not to work) and ... indeed it doesn't. So that settles that. As Blicero pointed out, the different DMX USB interfaces contain very different technologies. The Open is designed to be as basic an interface as you can get, so it lacks the advanced internal workings of its more elaborate siblings - and this is precisely why the OP-Z cannot talk to it in the same way.

can you use the other usb port on the interface for usb audio out?
@tacetfive4 жыл бұрын
good tutorial, but the common mistake of OP-Z dmx tutorials is opz DOES NOT SUPPORT DMX interface, just limited functions in there. You can not to control every channels of your fixtures, you can not to control a fixture individually and more and more. For example, I can't use RGBW and RGBUV (with white and ultraviolet led) spots together because OPZ transmitted a special signal of color and then I got different colors in my spots but it should be the same
@lukejay____4 жыл бұрын
For sure the OP-Z isn’t a perfect DMX controller; but for its price and size and considering it’s foremost a music making device I think it does a great job! Valid points though
