Thanks! That makes me really happy to read :) Mesmer remains one of the most versatile picks, especially when solo. But you are right, it's a rather intensive class to play. I might eventually take a look at builds that would put less strain on user input, although I probably will want to research a bit beforehand by talking to people who would greatly benefit from these types of things.

@@phandrel My favorite spec to farm on is Harbinger, just take all power traits in spite, soul reaping and harb, run staff + focus + axe or pistol (axe is slightly better single target & boon rip, pistol if there's any groups). Then heal elixir, signet of spite, spectral walk for condi cleanse, red or white elixir, & elite elixir. Absolutely nukes things from 900 range, even more on staff. I know a lot of people prefer reaper for farming because of the aoe, but I prefer the mobility of harbinger shroud 2 & 3 much more. Plus, if you do run pistol, it still does fantastic burst torment damage in celestial gear with the exact same traits.

My favorite relics for this are either cavalier if I don't have the jade protocols (though this build can generate perma 25 might, fury and quickness with one trait change, I still usually run with them) or brawler if I do.

@@campioneri ooh, both are excellent choices as well! There's honestly a ton of fun relic combinations possible, especially in the open world.

Thank you! You can get every boon in the game in the open world for any build you play by charging up at the Offensive and Defensive protocols in any of the EoD maps. They'll make it so that every time you engage an enemy, you get all of the boons applied to you, and you can stack this up to 2 hours. There's a location in New Kaineng that is super quick to do. Happy to hear you like them! The weapon swap should refill your endurance so that you can dodge again for even more ambush attacks. It doesn't trigger out of combat, though. Could that be it?

With the Celestial setup shown in the video, the GS/GS sits at around 8.5k dps. Which isn't that high, but it's all about their initial burst, as you want to ideally kill all enemies within 2-3 mirage cloaks. The staff/staff sits at around 15k sustained dps, but with a slower ramp up time. This in combination with the extreme amounts of mitigation makes it better than GS for champs. As for what classes, I noticed it depended on the farm. My fastest killing speed for the Spiders in the Derelict Delves was with a Dragonhunter (as showcased in that video). The minotaurs to the north are pretty close with Fresh Air Tempest, GS/GS Mesmer, Daredevil, and a few others. The Branded in Jahai Bluffs was fastest with Necro, Mesmer and Daredevil. If you want an overall recommendation, I would either say Daredevil if you want a very active playstyle and rely on your dodging skills to not die. If you want a more relaxing experience, Fresh Air Tempest is actually pretty underrated IMO. I would put this mesmer in between them, as it's faster than the ele, but less relaxing.

For sure! The GS/GS benefits from extra power, so anything that boosts that should be fine. Surging is a pretty good rune, actually, although you already have permanent swiftness, so the movement speed is somewhat wasted (they don't stack). Rune of the Fireworks, on the other hand, could be a solid alternative, and would only cost you 60 silver for a full set.

This was before they reworked the Jade Bot Protocols. Soon you can get them once every 30 seconds (temporarily been put at every 90 sec). So it won't be as powerful anymore, meaning that you'll want actual berserker/marauder gear for dual gs, and the celestial will be fine for dual staff.

Some classes have a special feature/ability tied to their dodge, Vindicator, Daredevil, and Mirage are all examples of this. In the case of Mirage our Dodge will let us evade, as one would expect, as well as trigger the Ambush Attack I mention in the video. The Ambush is responsible for a large part of our damage, so we want to dodge as much as possible. The reason we run 2 greatswords (or staves in the second build) is for the Sigil of Energy, which will refill our endurance whenever we weapon swap. This'll give us another extra dodge to use whenever we want, and increase our overall damage potential.

I usually use the Birthday Food, but that might not be available to everyone. Anything kind of works, since we're running Celestial Stats. If you're going GS/GS, having some extra power upfront isn't a bad thing. If you want some super cheap food, Soul Pastry is actually not too bad. If you don't mind splurging a little on food, Omnomberry Bars for Magic find, or Longevity Noodles for MF/Gold/EXP bonuses are some of the best food for farming. If you want a food recommendation for staff/staff, Holographic Super Cake is expensive, but downright nuts. Extra endurance regen, extra health regen and extra magic find. But anything works for staff/staff too, so don't feel forced to spend inordinate amounts of gold on food.

The double greatsword build works great with berserker/assassin's stats! The double staff is a condition build, so for that one you'd want something more focused on those stats.

I'll see what I can cook up! I have a simple fresh air build, but it isn't as tanky. So I might need to tinker a bit.

I would say that dagger/x is a better "overall" pick in the sense that those combos work just as well on champions, as regular enemies. But both builds in this video still work! Gs/Gs is still one of the best tagging and farming builds out there, and Staff/Staff is probably one of the most defensive builds you can have. If you struggle on certain harder enemies with dagger/x, then staff/staff could be a nice alternative.

@@ambyshard gs/gs is the one to go for, honestly. Rifle is a fun gimmick, but you'll feel the lack of consistent damage the greatsword can provide, as it's mostly a support weapon. It could be fun to eventually add to your arsenal, but when building your character, I'd definitely recommend gs first (and staff for difficult enemies).

I was still running the Jade Bot Protocols from EoD. With the staff/staff build, it isn't as necessary, but it made for a very chill experience. Going from Core to HoT is one of the most brutal learning curves I've seen in any MMO. If you look back at promotional videos from people playing the Beta, they died constantly during the intro quest as well. I've grown accustomed to it, but like everyone, went through an experience much like yours. The builds in this video should help out on the survivability front, if you keep at it, it'll get much better. PoF, EoD, and SotO are much less brutal to go through imo.

Literally happened to me. Brought my mezz into HOT not having optimized gear and speced it into chrono with a trash build and got beaten so hard I didn't touch the game again until living world 5 was half way done. Things are much better now and I've managed to farm up 16 pieces of legendary armor and trinkets in that time. Its a much more complete game now. And POF mounts with soto traits basically make HOT maps grief free :)

Still works like a charm! You could now also use dagger/torch and dagger/pistol if you want to mix it up. But you'll have less boons, so depending on the enemy, it might be a bit rougher.

In the video I was using Jade Bot Protocols (both offensive and defensive). Whether it's permanent will rely on how fast you can chain kill enemies though.

I'll make a specific video for Lab farm builds with a specific gear setup as to not ruin the runs for anyone else. I know the issues all too well when people shred the mobs or go off-pack :)

wrong, more than 50% of pve scrubs in lab run Herald leech builds, meaning half of the mobs don't die, meaning you lose loot and waste time.

If you'd want to move away from celestial, I would even argue moving away fully: marauder/berserker for power based builds (the greatsword variant in this case), viper for condition based build (staff, or dagger/pistol even).
