I think it’s 1 to 2 years away. This kind of stuff scales and evolves in months, not decades.

We cannot even begin to imagine what will happen in next 3 - 5 years. Who knows what they already have available. I have read somewhere that Sora is 1 year old, i mean these videos and that they have only released it because of gemini 1.5 .... now, for my understanding this is bigger breakthrough than atomic bomb... Let that sink in. Our liver will be changed in unimaginable ways. This technology will be used in unimaginable ways. What i fear is that not all of those advances will be in our wellbeing, meaning that each and every one of us could be in AIs sandbox, and we would recieve only information that ai think we need. So essentialy making a slaves out of all of us. While people who do own this technology will be rulers of the Earth. Not so differently than today, but on a much larger scale.. And i am frightened and exicted at the same time

@@whoswho6641 Right who knows, I feel that now the speed of progress of developments in the AI field is going so fast to the point of feeling that months in the AI field are almost like as if years passed by in terms of technological progress that happens in other fields, so it was so wild and crazy and unbelievable to see Sora's abilites and videos all of a sudden out of the blue so to speak since such tech level of coherency and resoultion I expected to see only in like 4-5 years or even more than that and it already is here and existing, this tech feels like something so exotic in nature and futuristic as if someone invented a time machine that works in real life and then he/she shows us that it actually is working and that it is real and it shocks us all, it's that crazy. I think just like you, our lives are probably gonna change a lot because of all of this AI revolution (and Sora :) ) and advances in robotics + AI, 5 years in the AI field is way more than just 5 years of other fields so who knows how far they would come by then. As for AI owning us and our lives well, it might happen but it's up to all of us to not fall into being a slave of the AI and these companies that own them.

... I think we'll see more of it because now people don't have to worry about what they look like and what kind of environment they live in. Just create a (subjectively) attractive version of themselves in a (subjectively) beautiful environment, presenting whatever from anywhere with music and narration in ways they haven't been able to until Sora.
