thank you. switched to youtube video just to leave a like and subbed. you saved so much anger i was going to have over the next few days. The cache tip was huge along with the profile option.

Thanks for the tips. I have quite powerful desktop computer, but these issues appeared working with complex project. Closing and opening saved project again helped me to solve lagging and continue working. I think it clears catche.

On windows if you have an intel processor you can use the qsv codec for rendering, that halves the render time.

Thanks. Although my preview playback can be jerky, it works. My transitions playback ok but the 1st few transitions seem to freeze on the "Exported" video render. Any ideas?

Thanks again Tech Gent. Question: My video clips are from a security camera. Original clips are frame width 2304, and frame height 1296, 30 FPS. For export, I chose... All Formats CPU MP4 (h.264) HD 1080p, 30 FPS (1920x1080) Was this a proper choice for uploading to KZfaq? Almost done rendering.

so wait, when I am editing on 1080-60fp my video its lagging right, when I set to mobile its not, so after I finish my video editing I can then change it back to 1080 and my video wont lag right ?

i recently downloaded the 3.1.1 version of openshot and it dosent seem like theres a mobile 360 option... any other tips?? Ive tried everything else but my video is always laggy when i import as well as export

So, Openshot worked fine on my laptop for weeks, then suddenly it had a lag problem and I dont understand, for the life of me, what changed. Does memory space effect it? Edit* clearing up space on my harddrive fixed it somewhat, I guess that was the issue

Same issue with me. Started hanging, lagging. When I checked logs and Ram memory usage it shows mem_fault and 95% CPU usage

You might have virtual RAM enabled. In Windows it is called virtual memory or pagefile. In Linux it is called Swap. It is enabled by default. Mem_fault probably means insufficient physical RAM space or RAM error (which we don't hope as it means hardware defect). 95% CPU usage probably tells you that it is using most of your CPU power.

Was about to get a powerful computer but realized in the comments it doesn't really change the problem as it would be expected. I did some of the modifications in the preferences and already see a better speed ! Thanks a lot !

typing out of frustation, Openshot is unable to preview single video of 5mins. changed to mob 360, cache512. my system i5, 4GB ram, windows 10. never edited a video of 3mins at least. tired with all the methods u hav shown.

Didn't help at all. Still takes around 1 second for each preview frame, same in 1080p and also when in 360p mode. I'm using a I-5 CPU.

I shall share my solution with some background info. Current version is 2.6.1. This runs fine on an old laptop of mine (10+ years old) that I swapped the hard drive on recently, i5. Takes awhile to start but runs ok. But on a beefy desktop I have with better stats in every category (also new drive as just assembled) it ran slow slow slow. My Ram under preferences was set super low. Increased to 8 gigs, still slow. I deleted it and re-download, but went with version 2.5.1. It runs great now. Give 2.5.1 a try, that was what did it for me when all else failed. Hope this helps.

If you have to look up fixes for a software like this, it's not a very good software. You can leave your corporate response at the door.

Guess I'm the only one here with still a problem. Still lags. I'll be uninstalling soon. My own fault. I should have read the requirements. 8gb is NOT enough. This thing won't even shut down properly. Oh, well...
