I have to admit that I got choked up watching this. During these horrible times, this act by this young man and coach gave me hope for humanity. This is the perfect example of why I prefer amateur sports. Watching young people playing for the love of the game is preferable to watching the it's all about me players in the major leagues.

A few years ago, my autistic nephew Jonathan ( who LOVES shooting baskets ) watched 2 older neighborhood teens playing one on one. One passed him the ball, and he swished it. They complimented him, and asked him to shoot another, but he was already heading away to walk with his Dad; no big deal.

My grandson has C.P. he got to play this year with the schools basketball team. It was so heart warming to see, not only his team pass him the ball, but the opposing team as well. Then all stood back, as he made as many free throws as it took to make a basket. This little act of kindness didn't make, or break a game. It did make a boys heart soar.

The true beauty of sports and when it goes beyond winning or losing and transcends into something truly special that no trophy or award could ever come close to replicating.
