It took me two and a half days to complete. I love this car... but I broke it on my first run :(

For the stickers, you should try the soapy water method. Apply a layer of soapy water on the surface before applying the stickers and the soapy water will allow you the adjust stickers position.

overdid the stickers on mine did ps orange, got the orange wing, with those orig stickers, , 10.5 tamiya, my belt seemed too loose and had to use most of the adjuster bite to take out the slack, beauty paint job wish ide seen this sooner, amazing how strong the chassis is

I used to have that car back in the day. Gave it to my nephew many years ago, and he was rough on it, but I think it still works. It's in my brother's garage somewhere.

@@WestCoastSwinger In the video I broke the rear shock tower, unfortunately off camera. It was doing a wheelie and I hit the brakes to stop it, flipped, shock tower hooked the grass, broken.

Check your shocks, looks like the OT210BK part 5 was not seated correctly all the way down over Part 3 See step 28 in the manual, they go in onto the shaft and then down over the rod end. I noticed this at the 10 second mark in the video.

Yeah. I noticed that when building. Seems the rod end diameter is too large. Wondered about that when building. Thought I used the wrong end and then thought maybe that’s how they built shocks in the 80’s… Some of the parts are extremely tight in this kit though. Noticed that when assembling the gearbox. Had to put bearings on a rod and I thought I must have been using the wrong size bearing at first as they were not sliding on. Had to put a dab of grease on the rod and really force the bearings on. Might be the same issue with the rod ends.

@@Triggered-RC Yeah its a tight fit. I spotted it because I did exactly the same to begin with too, manual isn't 100% clear and its a tight fit. Beautiful buggy though, and the 13.5T motor seems just right

I'm pretty sure I've seen this car on some of the social media groups.that copper sticks in my head. I have to build mine at some point and was looking at hobbywing 13.5 turn motor it looks like it's plenty for that car

Might have been mine you saw. That PS14 Tamiya copper is beautiful. As for the 13.5, it may be a bit overkill, thus the front end lifting up and the wheelies…

I got it fixed. Already filmed the upgrade process and got some running footage in a backyard race vs the Tomahawk. Just have to edit the footage and upload.

Luckily i only ever ran my mid custom at indoor club meetings but have seen the carnage that it does to these old mids. Hope everything was okay after a tear down and rebuild. ✌️🙂👍

What diameter wheels does it come with?

I’ll measure them. The rim is bigger, but the overall diameter of the tires is the same as the old school optima/javelin wheels.

You have a couple wheels on the wrong sides lol… The Optima Mid wheels are directional brothaman… In the thumbnail pic..

Ah. The back ones. Those are aftermarket wheels btw. Kit ones are quite a bit different.

@@Triggered-RC nosir; the wheels pictured in the searched thumbnail of the video are absolutely Optima FACTORY wheels, and are directional. You have a left, and a right wheel on the right side. That means you have the same issue on the left side.

@@Triggered-RC they are the original Optima directional 5-spoke. Saw them again while driving through the grass. Definitely not aftermarket.
