I'm almost convinced that Optimus is mocap controlled, I don't see how else you'd make all those fingers work
@EnnoMaffen
@EnnoMaffen Ай бұрын
Yep. Feels like the arm and finger movement was mocap, the walking afterwards wasn't. I think because walking requires delicate balance which in turn requires direct feedback from the ground. Therefore mocap is only possible for the first part. That's why the arm/finger part feels natural and fluid, while the walking was stiff and slow.

I’m 67 yrs of age with arthritis & other health problems, however as I look into my future with my husband being of the same age, I can see great use for the future Optimus robot. There is much I could teach Optimus from general household tasks to shopping, helping my granddaughter with school work, playing with the dog to learning gardening, food growing etc. I’m sure many people would find Optimus extremely useful particularly if one has disabilities. In addition it would provide conversation & help prevent loneliness. So Mr Musk should you need an Australian to help integrate Optimus into a family household that most certainly will in the future require more help I am more than happy to assist. Regardless, when you are ready to sell to the public I would definitely be excited to purchase an Optimus as I see these robots being essential for continuing life within the home as people age. Love watching these videos and seeing Tesla’s progression in this exciting and extraordinary field. ❤

They are just building better puppets, with more and more machine learning based assistance for the walking gait and differnet specific actions. It is interesting that robots walk the way they do. It appears the main focus of this way of walking is to keep the upper part of the robot from changing the center of gravity. I guess the robot makers have not figured out how to allow the robot to change its center of gravity in an efficient way so the robot can walk more like a human or is a human gait not efficient with many possibilities of falling? Interesting.

The fact that it took so little time for them to get this far is amazing

Its been over 20 years since asimo was made. I wouldn't call it that fast.

@@dmace81 Well,youre right actually.They didnt have to invent much stuff.Boston dynamics also has been a big player in the field ages before them.All they had to do is take the technology,figure out how it works,and adjust it to their needs

@@user-jg2xp1ni2m Boston dynamics is not a big playet when it comes to humanoid robots. Yes, Atlas is super impressive but it is just a research plattform and was never intended to be turned into a product. The Atlas bot is also very expensive and it does run on hydrolic actuators. Tesla is building relativly cheap and fully electrictric robots, that will be sold to customers. So boston dynamics is still in the research phase, while tesla is trying to build a shippable product.

Pretty old news the idea of making a robot that can walk and manipulate lightweight objects..fair play to them for developing quickly but catching up to Boston dynamics is going to be hard

YEAH but tesla has determination and capital Other companies don't do it because its expensive and everything government funded doesn't work out well@@bendosage3445
