Our life is a summation of ordinary days so make each day count. Farm life is full of routine and being unplugged. That is a beautiful life!

I loved every second of this video. We got to follow you outside to see what’s happening on the farm and learned so much in the kitchen with you too. Thanks for taking us along with you for a day.

I’ve watched several of your videos but this one really is speaking to my heart. I loved the sharing of the scripture in Thessalonians, it’s something my husband and I are striving to do. We are carving out on a much smaller scale a homestead life here in Temple, Texas after leaving a much busier life in California behind in 2018. We came to live in a land where God, guns and Old Glory are still respected, something that has all but disappeared in our rare conservative corner of Cali we once called home. My dad was a 5th generation Texan and so coming here instantly felt like a good place to put down roots. I’m so grateful for you sharing your life on video, I’ve already gleaned much…like putting flour in a shaker to spread on the counter and your bread…oh my goshness! BRILLIANT! I even saw how you wet your cup before pouring in your starter so it would pour out easier 🤯 it makes perfect sense but I never would have thought of that. Those two things just made life a tad bit easier. At almost 55 years old, you and your husband are quite an encouragement that we are not too vintage to embark on the challenges of farm life, something we’ve been told several times. 😢 The last few years the weather has been brutal. Gardening and keeping up with animals (we have small livestock) and chores have been such a challenge and discouragement has been hard to beat back. Amending and growing in black land soil has challenges even in good years but the last two summers have brought forth many tears and made me wonder if the naysayers were correct. Seeing your success in the same general location is encouraging. I’m delighted to see how you are raising your cows and the importance you place on grass feeding and the kindness you show to your calves and and milking mommas. I understand why folks do their cow milking differently but it’s a beautiful system you are using and a win/win for the cows and humans doing it your way. I’m trying to be brief but it’s so difficult when there is so much to compliment y’all on. Again, thanks for taking the time to video your busy life so we can learn from your example. May God continue to bless you and your family!

I love ordinary days. The everyday and weekly chores give a good cadence to life. It's getting cooler here in the Great Lakes Region, and I'm looking forward to baking and roasting again, especially in our wood mass heater. Our little place is just too small to fire up the oven in the summer, it gets too hot in here!

At timestamp 19:34 the license plate number on the stock trailer is visible...in case you might want to cut that out somehow. Thank you for the inspiring content!

Not sure how I ended up here (it was a recommended video after a SortedFood video I watched), but I'm glad I found it (new Subscriber). If I can ask one question, and this is admittedly biased by being in the UK and thus in a very different farming culture, but to Texas farms have issues with badgers and/or Tuberculosis? As I know it's something that destroy's dairy farms here.

We love questions! We don't have any issues with either here in Texas that I am aware of. My dairy herd is closed and we are very guarded about contact with other animals and humans. Also, our climate is semi-arid and this might have something to do with this. Thank you for watching!

@@texasfarmsteadliving-caren9517 thank you for replying, and for the insight into keeping cattle in Texas. TB is something a lot of British farmers have to fear, to the extent of keeping cows inside. One farmer I know has to cull half of her 120 strong livestock because of it. So I'm really glad it's not an issue for yourselves as it was devastating for her.
