Thank you so much! This is the only one online that I have seen like this .I am going to make one to take to this lady that's like my grandmother. Her husband passed a couple of years ago then a couple of weeks before Christmas we found out she has a bone infection and will be in the hospital for at least six weeks ! I'm praying she'll be able to come home. She's loves Christmas so it's really hard! Her tree is up waiting for her !

Just made two with my four year daughter. They turned out great and were easy to make. My husband was even impressed.

So, I'm posting my experience trying to make these ornaments. The floor polish is no longer made but a version of it is out there. I decided to try polyvinyl varnish as it was mentioned in another video as a substitute. I found that you must immediately get the moist photo into position as the placement time is short. Also, it doesn't dry crystal clear so next time I'm going to try the new version of the floor polish(not cleaner/polish) and see if it's easier to place the photo and then have it dry "clear." Best of luck everyone.

When I first saw this video I knew that I wanted to try it. They looked awesome. Reading all the posts definitely helped get it right. I was surprised how nice mine turned out considering it was my first try. It got better after each one I did...practice makes perfect. I started with the flat clear plastic ornaments and I can tell you that those were definitely easier to work with than the round ball shape ones. Round is much more difficult to reach with a brush to smooth out the wrinkles. The other trick I read was about waiting until the floor polish dried a bit to get just tacky. I had no problems with the fine glitter adhering to inside evenly. Also stayed away from the darker glitter, as mentioned. I did try my first time with regular photo paper laser jet copies...paper much too stiff and would not soak up the polish. Switched to regular laser jet paper copies from Kinko. Perfect!!! Oh and luckily I did buy the correct polish. Thanks for posting such an awesome DYI video. Yours are beautiful. I hope to get it perfect one day.

To those asking what to use rather than floor polish - Minwax Polycrylic Apparently the secret to using the Minwax is turn the ornament over on foil and let all extra polish is out before glittering.

As nice as this video is, I would recommend just using adhesive for the picture/glitter. I made my friends gifts using this tutorial and by the time I gave it to them, the picture detached completely >_

Hello! I am attempting to do this myself. If I use an inkjet printer and then seal it with modem podge sealant, would I then be able to use my photo like you have done yours? Also, I use polycrylic inside of my ornaments, would that make a difference?

In the video the paper looked like regular photo paper because it looked thicker when you rolled it. I am sending the photos over to Walgreens to print them and they will print on photo paper. When you say regular paper do you mean regular photo paper or just regular thin print paper? Sorry, I plan to make a lot for family and want to get it right. :)

My red glitter keeps changing my picture colour. My green too. Has this happened to you? It is the quality of the glitter?

I did lots of these last year and I used Pledge Floor Care. They looked great but the pictures started falling off inside. Did anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it?
