In 1981 the Orleans Historical Society restored the USCG gold medal boat CG36500 to seaworthy condition after it had been abandoned in the woods of the Cape Cod National Seashore for several years. Ongoing annual maintenance by the OHS volunteers kept her afloat, and then in 2009, under the leadership of Peter B. Kennedy, a comprehensive restoration was performed. The boat continues to be maintained today by the OHS under the direction of the current Coxswain, Richard Ryder. Restoration was supported by the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation, Orleans Community Preservation Act and individual donors. Producer/editor Tamsen Martin-Cornell. Producer Tom Cronin.
