ChOcOsTaR27 I know an entire animated series that portraits viruses and bacterians as the villains and the white blood cells as policemen. And the the plot you actually described happens more than often. "One of these days they will forget to wash their teeth after a meal, and that will be our chance!" (Actual quote from the cartoon). Yeah! It was an educational cartoon. But it was a good one. Not too blatant and with some pretty badassery for a kids show.

Why is his job at the zoo supposedly a downgrade from the pea soup factory? You gotta have at LEAST a bachelor's in biology, sometimes even a master's, to get a job directly caring for the animals like Murray does in the film. Most people would KILL to have that job, and they portray it like it's the only job he could get and we should pity him for having such a terrible position? ...Yes, in a movie about talking cartoon cells, I'm focusing on his job status.

+Amelia Bee I'm actually the most focused in that movie how he didn't sue that photographer at the science fair for a) taking his picture without his permission b) putting his picture in the paper without his permission c) costing him his job d) not even using what was supposed to be the cover of the local paper, the winner of the science fair which I think a jip price even for a child and e) The fact he caused so much trouble even for that poor teacher who kid had to switch schools. Also, I'm from San Diego. After seeing our zoo, working at any other one is just working in a park with animals. I agree with you though. When NC said that, I was like what's so great about working in a soup factory? He practically got a promotion.

I think the thing I most resent about this movie is the fact that it implies the dad somehow fell into the position of zookeeper and his whole life fell apart when in reality, being a zookeeper is legit one of the most difficult job positions to get and there are people who spend YEARS trying to secure one.

This movie is just too clever for its own good. Saw it when I was a kid and loved it. My mom loved it too. Is it perfect? No, but it did have enough meat on the bone to spawn an animated series which was pretty good too. Not everything needs to be high art to be well written. The voice performances are top notch and the last 20 minutes of this movie are pretty badass.

I think my favorite part about the movie was Thrax. He had a cool design and he was a pretty intimidating villain. Overweight people who develop unhealthy eating habits will do this thing known as "comfort-eating" especially when confronted with shameful situations (such as a person pointing out how unhealthy they are) or stressful/uncomfortable moments (like bringing up the death of a loved one) is it perfectly played? No, but I would be lying if I said I didn't see myself in Frank's situation here just trying to shake away the feeling by stuffing my face. Comfort-eating is a tough habit to break, and I'm kinda glad that they brought it up in this way.

@@Kettterer I have a fetish for Fantastic Voyage plots ever since I watched the Magic School Bus when I was young (though I don't like it now because they're kids that are gone inside) and the level of Toonami's Trapped in Hyperspace game where you went inside TOM (even though he's a robot.) Remember that?

True, but I could say the only good thing about inside out was Riley herself. The only problem is, inside had little of actual riley and this one had enough animation to keep me interested.

I've been wanting the critic to review this movie for a long time, and now that he's done it I'm a little disappointed that he kind of overlooked Thrax. To me, he was the best part of the movie. Heck, he's one of my favorite animated villains of all time. So it would have been nice to hear the critic's thoughts on him.

Oh come on Doug, you didn't even mention the animated TV series that was made after this movie. Ozzy and Drix is actually pretty decent and honestly, much better than the movie.

This movie came out when I was 10 years old. I remember going to see it at the theatre, and I'm pretty sure it scarred me for life. Not because it was bad, but because of the gross-out factor My God....THE GROSS-OUT FACTOR

Looking back, it seems like late 90’s to early 2000’s (when this film came out) loved inserting a lot of toilet and gross out humor in stuff. But yeah, this film way overused it and it wasn’t done in a clever or very funny way most of the time.
