For top recommendations of what to take to the hospital: Slippers/inside shoes Electric candles or a small portable night light Snacks !!! Preferably healthier ones like dried fruits, fruit bars, cereal bars, fruit etc A light cotton or towel robe Sheet face masks Nursing pillow Cup with straw Long charger cable Journal Polaroid camera Angled peri bottle (I had a c section and still used mine) Electric or handheld fan Eye mask (mine was silk and the little luxury made me feel nice) Water spray bottle Cotton loose nightdress/pyjamas

I use a swim suit with rash guards with out sunscreen. Only sunscreen on exposed skin. I also love sun hats for baby. Yes swim diapers are great and most pools require them.

We got this high for our twins. Love how you can stack one in the other. True that you can't remove the tray so quickly but if you press down, it unclicks quickly. Also it wipes down so so well!

We did long sleeve swimsuits that covered everything but legs and a big baby sun hat! We did Babo botanicals baby or ThinkBaby mineral sunscreens for all the areas that weren’t covered and loved those. Our daughter burns very easily and these worked super well for us. Now she’s almost 4 and we can do a regular bathing suit with sunscreen but we did the rash guard/long sleeve style until she turned 3.

Rash guard just because sun screen is tough 😅. If the baby isn’t going to be submerged in water (like just playing on the beach) we just do a regular diaper. For swimming yes swim diaper (remember they don’t hold pee so it’s like last minute out of the house) have lots of hats. Baby float with shade if going in a pool, so cute and fun. Baby powder to get sand off.

We have the Stokke Clikk high chair - kindly gifted by my SIL at our baby shower. I really like how it looks, and am (somewhat controversially) not a big fan of how the Tripp Trapp looks. Heard a lot of good things about the IKEA one though, as well as the Ergobaby Evolve

I’d defo use a full rash guard suit to protect skin. Much more reliable than sunscreen. Also, remember that swim nappies only hold solids and not liquids 😂 We’re currently going to baby swim sessions at the pool in the UK. Water temp is only 30c so we use a full wetsuit type thing called a warm in one. It has a fleece lining and keeps her toasty warm. She also has a neoprene nappy that goes over the swim nappy to make sure solids defo don’t escape into the pool 😂

I'm am JUST finding out through these comments that swim diapers don't hold pee 🤯 why don't people use regular diapers then?? lol

@@macdingle I didn’t realise until I saw someone advising not to put on swim gear before leaving the house for the swim session 😂 It seemed like a good idea to have them already in the gear and good to go but seems it could be a wet disaster. The swim nappies aren’t absorbent at all so they don’t bulk up in the water 😁

@@macdingle because once they go under water, they absorb all that water and get huuuuuuge! Super uncomfortable for the little ones plus that jelly inside starts coming out… 10/10 do not recommend lol

Love the frida mom underwear. Yes the hospital ones will do but I personally found that the waist band would roll very easy when I pulled them down to use the bathroom and had to unroll them while I was sore and couldnt easy bend. I miss them even though I dont need them anymore, so comfy! I too wish i brought my vicro swaddles. I had a really bad hemerage after delivery had to stay 3 days. We almost stayed 4 but thankfully my family was able to help when I got home so they let me go. My husband wish he had packed an extra day of medicine and underwear. I stupidly didnt teach my husband much before birth about how to take care of a baby thinking I would show him once the baby came. I was so weak after the hemerage I didnt have the strength to hold my own baby. My husband had to ask the nurse how to do everything, I felt so bad about that. Now we feel like pros haha

First big baby item I bought was a high chair 😂😅 to my defence it was a good price as it was in offer and it got an attachment similar to a baby bouncer that baby can go in as a newborn so she is higher up while we eat etc 😊 baby hasn't been born yet, due in 5 weeks(ish) so we'll see if it worth it haha

Sounds the same or similar to mine. I got the Hauck Alpha which is essentially the same as the Stokke Tripp Trapp but £200 cheaper. I used that newborn attachment everyday when I was in the kitchen. I think you’ll find it super useful 😃

No shame in buying one early! Especially if it's a great deal. It's something you'll need down the road anyway so why not!

I might be making the switch to that IKEA highchair, because I absolutely hate hate hate the one we have. A neighbor gave it to us and it looks expensive and extravagant, but there are so many little stinking nooks and crannies for food to fall into. It’s so hard to get the leather cover and buckles off to be cleaned. And it’s huge - it’s way taller than the table so it’s awkward to eat at the same time as her and it takes up a lot of floor space. Thanks for showing this option!

Hi Mac lovely informative video. Little Annie is adorable doesn’t she look like Jack!! When I had my last baby 14 years ago now I brought the wooden Stokee highchair that came up to the dining table I loved that highchair but I also loved the IKEA one that you got Annie I have used it when we went shopping to IKEA in their restaurant and other coffee shops use them in the UK they are super and really good value they are basic but for how long your baby is in the chair it’s so worth it because believe me they aren’t in them for that long and if I was having another baby which I’m much too old now I would buy the IKEA highchair no doubt about it there is no need to buy expensive ones and like you have done you can spruce them up and yours looks amazing I hope Annie will enjoy sitting in it ready for eating solids. Packing hospital bags I didn’t take much a couple of pj’s, pads, plenty of underwear, chargers for phone/tablet, snacks, drinks, toiletries, a comfy outfit for going home, socks and slippers that is all I took and of course a baby bag with nappies, cotton wool, a few vests and an outfit for going home and a swaddle blanket. Sending you and Jack and Annie lots of love xxx

It’s so strange how everyone’s experience is different… I had a precipitous labour (under 3hrs only 1% of the population I’ve been led to believe). First labour I had a birthing pool in my living room… didn’t get a chance to put water in it! Second I didn’t even bother packing a bag! And she was even quicker! Lucky you may say… I’d say shocked and bewildered at what just happened in 2 hours! 😮

So i went for child home which was about 180 but its feet And bum positions adjusted and my Theo would be out of the ikea in weeks

I would say as a Healthcare worker, I would still bring my own pillow and blanket and even face towel because I see on a daily basis what those linens go through and many that are clean are not clean white because at my hospital we are not allowed to throw any away..yuck. so I understand if you feel bad enough, it doesn't matter but i just prefer my own stuff close to my face. Lol funny my last two births..one vaginal.one c section, I had chills...like to the point of teeth chattering ..not safe to get up ..shaking when I would get out of bed.

Long sleeve swimsuits. Sunblock isn’t really recommended for babies. Talk to your doctor. Swim diapers only in the water they don’t hold pee 14:17

I am just now finding out swim diapers don't hold pee and my mind is BLOWN. Why not wear a regular diaper then?? So confusing lol

@@macdingle Regular diapers basically blow up with water because of how absorbent they are for pee. So a swim diaper is designed to hold in poop only basically.
