Hi Juho and Sohvi, Enjoying your videos, your travels are very interesting and informative ( especially for those living in the Southern Hemisphere). You both seem to be interesting, intelligent and talented people, so I am wondering why the need to objectify Sohvi (re bikini sunbaking and all). Even if it is a joke it is normalising it. Your content and lives are interesting enough to stand on their own.

Hi, I'm new to this channel and I like a lot your posts and the boat. It reminds me the French Aluminium boat ALUBAT to certain extent. however about Svalbard how was possible that they didn't allow them to be there? I remember we have been sailing there with a passanger ship many times. Concerning the boat please allow me some recommendations only to a safety standpoint. 1) Windows Polycarbonate glued not the best idea suggest to use tempered double glazed with screwed rings inside out, 2)the stove exhaust gas cheminee nearby the diesel vent tank is not really the most appropriate, 3)the transparent plexiglas is useless to say at least and also impinging the Walkaway areas 4)the life-raft can be left there only suggest to cut open the railway and construct an in situ support (fixed to floor) that you can put up the liferafts and secure in place and use an hydrostatic release system HRU Hammar type.. 5)the dinghy outside that get full of snow not the best has it become heavier and supporting can be bend. 6) it's ok the idea of a winch for the mooring but only to be used temporarily a safer bollards is recommended 7)stern anchor wow!! 8) watertight door in the aft with that big plexiglass window sorry no!! I will rather call that a weathertight door.

@@carriewallace2257 Because Juho wants to be a comedian when he grows up. He is actually making FUN of the Click Bait sailing channels that rely on Bikinis to get views and get Patreon paying subs. If he ever " objectified " Sohvi he'd get a swat so hard he'd be swimming for the life line. It's reverse comedy, a new trend of super dry humour. He does it so well toooo ,, lol

It seems like a pretty no-nonsense type of boat, compared to the other sailing channels..efficient with minimum fancy stuff….built like a tank, it appears. Glad you two are on a safe vessel considering where you are sailing. Thanks for the overview.

Absolutely love your boat and nothing wrong with your philosophy. Why on earth would anyone take issue with what you are doing or your reason. You aren't sailing for their benefit or pleasure you are doing what works for you. Respect. Please keep posting. You are so different from the usual 'fare' as regards sailing blogs. Your boat is unique and really interesting. I guess I'm a fan....

Great review of the exterior boat. We are hull #2. #1 made the trip across to New York and back. The BMW engines were replaced by Nanni (Kubota) 62 HP diesels. The main bower is 120 lb Spade.

Arctica has quite an amazing history of Arctic sailing, and adventure. I enjoyed hearing about the trials and tribulations of its previous owners, especially through the infamous North West Passage of my country, Canada. You and your girlfriend are to be commended for embarking on a new Arctic adventure, especially in the winter. It’s a good thing you have shore power as there isn’t enough sun to charge all the batteries you rely on for your computers etc. Anyway, when things get a bit tough, and the solitude seems a tad much to handle, remember you guys are living a life that we land lubbers can only experience in our dreams, and through the wonderful videos of everything you experience of coarse. May you always have a steady breeze, and calm seas my friend.

Thank you for your videos. You are amazing. This is a modern anchor that can set very deep and withstand really huge pulling power but also to apply huge side forces to the swivel splitting it open . Unlike the cqr next to it. This is a known problem to all the new technology anchors. It is on the manual that you have to add a shackle between the swivel and the anchor shaft. It is a major safety concern if you do not.

Thanks for the tour, Juho. As I have posted before, she won't win any beauty contests but she is definitely sturdy. I must say that she could use a little TLC as in finding someone to weld that cleat back on, and it would not take much effort to bend the railing back into place. Really looking forward to hearing how you and Sohvi ended up being "squatters" on this beast. 😃

In 1984 the Dutchman Eilco Kasemier sailed around the world singlehanded with his aluminium motorboat Bylgia II. And in 1985 he completed this trip by returning safely to Holland. The boat was especially designed for this trip. He had only one engine on board, a Perkins 4,236 in order to consume a minimum of fuel at I believe 6,3 knots continously. He first made some testruns from I believe Holland to the Lofoten and back and Holland to Greenland and back. Thereafter he started his round the world trip from Holland via the southcoast of the UK to Mediterranean, via Suez Canal to India and futher to Asia. From there via the Pacific to Cape Horn and from Cape Horn straight away back to the UK and to Holland. He made the trip without noticeable issues with the engine/technique on board. 3 years ago I met the boat again and it still had the same engine and it was not overhauled meanwhile. So apparently Perkins was a better choice than a BMW. I have a nearly exact copy of this boat in steel.

Hi Juho, I noticed that your anchor swivel is fitted directly to the anchor shank. If you are swinging around in a big wind shift or tide change this could put a lot of sideways force and bend / break the swivel. Good tip is to fit about about 5 links of chain between the anchor and the swivel to mitigate excess sideways forces between the swivel and anchor shank. Great tour of the boat, love your channel.😀

Have twin screws is much easier to turn and maneuver a boat. I grew up with my folks owning 46' yacht. By using both motors you can thrust each prop in a different direction and the boat will turn very easy in one spot.
