Project Castaway is an upcoming survival game set in the middle of Pacific Ocean after you've survived a plane crash. You have to survive the elements as much as the wildlife and other threats. This was the demo version which you can check out on Steam as part of their June 2024 Next Fest via the link below!

Project Castaway is a survival crafting title set in the Pacific Ocean. Live the life of a stranded castaway, with only yourself - and the island's inhabitants - for company! Sail the ocean, hunt, explore unique islands and gather resources as you fight for survival.

This is a day one purchase for me when it comes out. Just gotta make sure I don't die by getting too cold 😅 Seems like the islands, there will be 12 of them and procedurally generated each time you start a new game! Co-op planned for the future too in a couple of months I think - maybe a co-op let's play for this one perhaps!

Rookiie error. I still don't know where the banana tree was 😅 hopefully can get into the next playtest or the early access and will be much more prepared!

@@proroguebear lol ya the banana leafs are soild long tear drop shaped leafs, the tree is a short tree just over head height. They look similar in height to the short palm leaf tree which has a long leaf with many individual leaves coming off each side. The banana leaf is just a long soild leaf version of the palm leaf one, similar in height and size to the overall tree size. (Edited) at 26:51 the banana tree is the one tree on the left side of the screen, with the brown lower leaves

Its sad many game devs dont understand how sharks work. They dont outright attack human unless swimming away, being erratic in your movements. Like in this situation of being in a boat i dont think they would follow. Plus i believe sharks usually swim alone.

yes, I like how RAFT handles it where there's usually only the 1 if I remember correctly at any one time and it's not a whole group of them trying to eat you!

I was surprised when I saw it on the Steam Store with a demo as I had been wanting to try this one for a while!

@proroguebear survival games are my absolute favorite. So far Project Castaway looks like Standed Deep combined with Green Hell with a touch of Sons of the Forest. It's very clean and pretty for sure. I'm going to look up the other game I wanted you to take a look at and I'll comment with it's name. It's well, pretty amazing.

It's called Sunkenland. It's one you definitely have to be ready for because it'll keep you busy while playing. But it's gorgeous and so much fun.

ah yes I've seen that one! Haven't got that yet but will add that to the list - think that was like Rust and Raft combined or something right? Bit of pvp in that or the option to I think?

@proroguebear I'm not 100% if you can pvp in it. I just played where I picked an island, built my shelter, and then went on to other islands fought the npcs and raided the islands. The diving in it is just impressive as well. You'll see. It's a lot to explore that's for sure. Yes definitely reminds me a little of Rust only your islandia hopping via swimming until you build something to float or drive around. The Raft factors maybe a little once you start building bigger vessels, but it's mostly just raiding and claiming islands. Like our planet was flooded and these are the only bits of land left but it's all mostly tropical. Its impressive.
