Synopsis:
Outer Banks is a coming of age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the “Pogues”) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After their near-death escape, Season Two finds John B & Sarah on the run - and in over their heads - in the Bahamas. New friends also bring new foes as they’re back on the trail of the gold, while the stakes for Kiara, Pope, and JJ rapidly escalate at home. The $400M is still in the game, but will the uncovering of a new-found secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits, but uncharted waters ahead mean our Pogues must do all they can to make it out alive.

How you gonna say the guy that plays Rafe is the weakest actor when he literally played the hardest character in the show to perfection. Drew Starkey is one of the best actors on the show if not the best.

Ward is such a good villain this season, they made me hate him so much but still seem real, the actor did a really great job this season

The suspension of disbelief I needed in season 2 was wild. There were no stakes. I knew none of the main characters were ever in danger of being hurt or dying. How the hell could Sara be shot then get up and walk around like normal. Kiara annoyed me a lot this season. She had no character growth and refused to accept how privileged she is and how much her parents want the best for her. A lot of the decision making was so dumb too. Why didn’t they take some of the gold when Sarah first opened the safe and then come back for the rest? So much coincidences happened to just make the plot happen. The slavery plot line was handled so poorly. They started a lot of themes in the story and explored none properly. Also, Denmark Tanny had no other living relatives who wanted the treasure, gosh that made me mad to not explore that. I love your comparison to the Fast and Furious movies cause it was exactly as ridiculous as that. JJ is by far my favorite character. I wish they played off the comparisons of Kiara having so much privilege and loving parents vs the other characters. Killing off Ward and then setting up Rafe as the big bad for the next season would have made so much better. He clearly has mental health issues they could explore because of his daddy issues.

How did a quirky teenage mystery turn into an action thriller movie with murderous parents and siblings and fights with Alligators in Bayous. Smh. Very Riverdale-ish

The CGI in that scene was horrendous 😂😂😂 could literally see through the alligator when it swims away

This season was horrible. The whole plot to get the gold was replaced with some bs cross that comes out of nowhere, and the amount of coincidences is just terrible writing. So Cleo just happens to be on the same ship? Rafe just happens to have Sarah's location from Topper's phone in the perfect moment? Why does every door in Ward's house lock from the outside?! And why does Rafe ALWAYS FIND A GUN. They spend the whole season trying to get the cross and then when they could have literally just cut the rope from the guys pulling it up, they just drive off and decide to live on a remote island?! And how in any possible world is John B's dad alive?! He had a whole character arc in the first season just trying to accept and get past his death! Now that's all pointless! This writing has just gotten terrible. The start of the season was really good but each episode just got progressively worse until it all just turned into a circus show.

I agree completely lol I thought I was the only one. I still really enjoy the show but this season was just too ridiculous for me at some points. And some of the decisions made are just mind boggling. 75% of this season was them being chased and almost dying . Literally I don’t think there was 1 episode where someone didn’t almost die

Great recap and review! This show is so outlandish but something about it is just so charming. What are your thoughts on JJ helping his father escape? I felt like it wrapped up their storyline a little too nearly considering how his dad literally terrorized him back in season 1.

Yeah the relationship between those two is definitely complicated and I hope it’s the last that we see his dad but I doubt it. Ward will probably find him and he’ll end up working for him.

I think season 2 was intense . I am scared for Sarah her family is terrible . Everyone of these characters died this season .There are parts of the first season i did like better season 2 was also so good too

They have the cross AND the gold. I watch with subtitles because i'm one of those people and have to know what's going on lol. I loved it but the coincidences were crazy, like you said they are acting invincible.

Love the review but I gotta disagree and say drew starkey (Rafe) acted his ass off. He played the underlying disturbance in him SO well. You could always tell something was off

I HATED SARAH THE FIRST SEASON AND I HATE HER EVEN MORE THE SECOND SEASON. The show really tried to make us like Sarah, feel something for her. Didn't work for me, she doesn't fit with them. As we all seen she got more of a story than kiara. (Interesting) Jon B is extremely overrated. When it comes to Pope I am shaking my head, so much I could say but I won't. Maybe I have unpopular opinions, lol.

I loved season 1, but s2 was way too crazy for me. I loved the humor, the kinda slower life where they began to explore those mysteries in s1, but in s2 there was so much action there wasn't time for humor and there was barely time for relationships between characters. I loved how in s1 they showed JJ's relationship with his father, his breakdown, his personality, and im so mad that they made him dumb and stupid in this season. He is sometimes a bit not responsible, but at the ship at the end they literally made him a dumb child that cannot stay alone. I hate that Also there is a brief 2 moment where JJ is holding his chest, something like a panic attack, and then the authors just drop it, where they could go deeper with his trauma (he grew up with alcoholic who beat him up), show us some of his feelings, show us how he manages with them (or doesn't manages).

I didn't like how Big John was alive, it kind of makes Peterkin's death pointless. Also what happened to Lana? (Scooter's wife) she could have testified against Ward. Also Ward needs to be dead, I am tired of him as a villain.

I agree with everything you said including the actor who plays Rafe,I'm sorry but I couldn't take him seriously even in season 1 JJ is my favorite character and his humor was top notch this season and the way he is so charismatic mafe me love his character Yeap,suspension of belief was the only way to enjoy this season and I enjoyed it better than season 1 cause the latter was a drag at times to watch I'd say centering Pope and including Cleo to the crew didn't feel forced despite the supernatural and slavery themes being questionable at times,normally black people being included to the narrative can feel too token-ish but those didn't feel forced to me and I enjoyed that. There were predictable moments like Ward and John B's dad being alive but overall 9/10 cause I was entertained and laughed a lot

The thing that made me realize how bad season 2 was. When Sarah got mad at john B for not caring about her fathers "death", she breaks up with him for 2 episodes and gets back in the most random moment. Also they ruined Kiara this season, easily the worst character now.

they had something great, they fucked up so bad, this generation lack of treasures hunting stuffs and they ruined the only thing that come up recently, horrible writing, probably made by peoples who are used to write fortune cookies idk
