I scream on the inside when people are completely oblivious to the fact The Doctor Falls shits on every piece of character work done with the Master since 2007.

Okay, I won’t attempt to argue with you over Simm’s portrayal in the Doctor falls as I was never a passionate fan of his master anyways and am completely ambivalent with his sidelining. What I am gonna go on a passion fuelled (and an entirely subjective) rant with you about is the idea that TDF threw away all of WEAT’S set up, to which my response is: what else could they have done? The only side character in floor 1056 we got the chance to get attached to turned out to have been the master, so after WEAT’s cliffhanger there’s nothing much left to explore there. And it’s not like TDF even dedicates anytime to the characters at the farm, they’re mainly just window dressing for the discussions between the main characters, and it helps to highlight how the Doctor is willing to give so much to defend so little. And as for the Cybermen, what else could you do with them? I felt like The body horror stuff was continued well with Bill’s story arc in TDF, and I think the episode uses them as an effective enough threat. They only have the one goal that they’ve been committed to since their origins in floor 1056, and that is to prepare humanity for survival. And yeah I know they barely appear in TDF but the Daleks barely appeared during their Genesis story and yet it’s revered by the fandom. And that’s because the entire story still revolves around them, around the impending threat that they will bring onto the inhabitants of Skaro (and history). They’re presented as an inevitability, something that you cannot reason with, something that only has one goal, one singular purpose that they will never deviate from. The few scenes that the Daleks do appear in only illustrate the points that the Doctor and Davros make, they will exterminate anything that isn’t like them on sight, with no hesitation. And that’s basically how the Cybermen are treated in the Doctor falls. There is little you can do to halt their progress. They will find you. They will convert you. They will survive. (Also, not gonna argue whether Bill’s happy ending was completely satisfactory, just gonna put it out there that she suffered horrific mutilation and psychological torment completely die to the Doctor’s negligence and the master’s sadism. I’d say she earned that fairytale salvation more than Clara, who sewed the seeds of her own demise and yet got that happy ending handed to her on a silver platter). But hey, that’s just why I love the episode. If you completely disagree that’s fine, we all have extremely different ideas on what we like about this show. I'm pretty sure most of Survival's reputation is all because of that ending monologue, which is admittedly beautiful. The rest is a bit of a mess though

The most overrated story, in my opinion, is the girl in the fireplace

it is funny because some might say that the Simm Master was an oversimplification and betrayal of the core character... If you want to talk overrated lets start with the entirety of the RTD era. Although I don't think much of the Moffat era either. Human Nature is also a totally butchered version of the 7th Doctor original, it's still fairly good but not remotely close to the original version. Survival's strengths are thematical, the culmination of 7 and Ace's development thus far coupled with a mild criticism of the 80s Master and some really nice full circle stuff to An Unearthly Child, wrapped up in a less than subtle use of decay and normality riffing on the state of the show at the point of cancellation as the show had been doing since S23. Is it better than Fenric? Hell no, but it isn't crap by any means and as for you finding it ridiculous but seemingly quite liking the End of Time, despite the batshit insanity of that, or really the overt silliness of the vast majority of modern who and much of classic, this seems a bit of a strange problem to have.
