Harry Styles could be no. 5 He hits high notes and has a nice tone so people (mostly some of his rabid fans) think he's amazing, but he gets incredibly throaty and raspy on his belts.

Since the fandom already hates me, let’s admit it: Seungmin and Han are overrated vocalists. Both of them (and I.N) have made lots of improvements from their debut! But compared to other male vocalists in the industry, they’re heavily reliant on Seungmin’s tone and Han’s range (most of which he can’t support, making a lot of his belts inconsistent and possibly dangerous to his vocal chords). And while we’re at it, let’s bring up TXT’s vocalists. I had a MOA ready to jump me because I said that NCT’s overall vocal technique is better than TXT’s. I even tried explaining that the number of members doesn’t matter. But they were adamant that TXT had better vocalists than all of NCT. So, y’all need to calm down. Taehyun is one of my ult idols and I love his voice. Yeonjun’s improvement over the years has amazed me! And Kai shows similar promise to his sister Bahiyyih in that they could both be great if their companies knew what they were doing. But as of now, even their main vocalists are weak compared to their peers such as in Ateez, Oneus, and formerly Treasure before Yedam left.

If you want an extremely overrated vocalist, it’s Jisoo. She has no grasp about of any technique and would be outsung by over 80% of sub-vocalists in K-POP.

I love the shades at the ending. Another singer I love that could fit in this category of overrated vocalists is my girl Sia. She's for me the soprano Adele in terms of technique and delivers that raw emotion with a beautiful and unique tone. Although, I think she was above average before her vocal decline.

Siyeon’s stage presence is just so amazing that ppl are willing to give her vocals a slide, especially since Dreamcatcher is one of the last bastions of KPOP still doing live performances. I would also say that she’s one of the only main vocalists in KPOP who hasn’t regressed in some way due to bad industry practices.

In my opinion, i think Olivia Rodrigo is being discredited a lot for her ability as a singer. I can't believe the amount of people saying how Olivia cannot sing and just another talentless industry plant. First of all, this girl is not an industry plant and second of all, people seem to be saying things without actually digging into what they wanted to say in all honesty. Just look up Olivia's live singing performances and properly judge it using well-functioned ears. Lizzo is another overrated vocalist too imo but i think it's better not to talk about her for now. Honestly? If Adele used nothing but her lower register, I feel like her pedestal would be actually warranted. Not everyone is a belter type and that’s ok. And not everyone has the delicious low register Adele has. Kpop has very few female vocalists with big voices, which means any kpop girl who can sound big gets a ton of hype. Especially when you listen to little other than kpop (like myself), it’s definitely easy to lose perspective on what great female vocalists can really do.

But from what i see most people are aware of her actual level but the praise comes from the old idea that all of twice are terrible vocalists and jihyo easily proves that wrong. Aside from that i really haven’t seen many people treating her as a better vocalist than she actually is. I think you can easily find many other vocalists in kpop that far more overrated that the majority of the fans actually believe in a lie. I don’t think jihyo is the one for that. Many fans of rosé simply can’t stand the idea that rosé cannot even compete with the likes of jihyo or winter, who aren’t even the highest criteria. They cannot accept the fact that who they labeled as “golden voice of korea” (which is literally one of the most forced and inorganic titles ever in kpop, never saw anyone actually use that for her in the general korean public) isn’t really an interesting vocalist technically. They just refuse to acknowledge her vocal problems and make straight up false videos of her “supporting” C5s. I mean sometimes are ofc debatable in the vocal community but some videos about her are just straight up lying to untrained fans, saying stuff like she supports her head voice consistently and C5 consistently when she’s still questionable on Bb4s. I understand that there are also fans that aren’t delusional about her level but there’s also so many that believe it. I doubt that you can find many videos about jihyo that are straight up lying as much as you can find about rosé. So yeah jihyo really wasn’t a good pick for this video. Again I don’t disagree about her weakness that you pointed out here, but jihyo the overrated one in kpop? Out of all the idols you could’ve picked given the level of delusion that exists in kpop? Not the most fitting choice.

Overrated male vocalist? I am gonna get so much hate but…in my opinion Michael Jackson is an overrated vocalist. Don’t get me wrong - he was INCREDIBLY talented and as a kid he was extremely good vocally, he was not overrated at all. But that’s the problem. He was singing as a child too much and his instrument was damaged. His „vocally overrated years” are like the 80s untill he passed away. He was singing with a tired and damaged voice, he had a very limited ramge, his belts were tense and hoarse, in the 90s he almost lost control over his voice (for example the imfamous History tour). He was lipsyncing a lot and when he was singing live, he was inconsistent, pitchy, his voice was cracking… Please don’t get me wrong - I love MJ and it’s totally understandable that he had a damaged voice bcs he was pushed into singing so much in his childhood. It wasn’t healthy at all but it wasn’t his fault. And I think MJ is a legend and probably the best performer of all time. Just not the best vocalist of all time although a lot of people think he was…

Tbh while I like Adele and Billie Eilish’s artistry, vocally speaking on a technical level, they’re not even the best of their respective generations imo. Of Adele’s peers, I’d say someone like a Jazmine Sullivan, Jessie J or even a lady Gaga is better. Tho then again, maybe I’m just talking out my ass lol. Adele has great emotive ability and an excellent tone which is what keeps people coming back to her, even if she’s not the strongest technically. Same with Billie Eilish. Of her peers (people at or around my age), vocally I’d say Faouzia, Samara joy, Jailen J’osey, Renee rapp are better but the emotive ability and unique style of hers is why she is more popular than they are despite me not seeing her as a strong vocalist. Also, I think they mean being able to sing soft and breathy so consistently is harder than belting. Tho I’m not sure. I heard Mariah Carey in her more airy, whispery vocals (like on the charmbracelet album) got criticized but it’s not exactly easy to do consistently.

People have been calling her vocals average since debut and once Twice was named "The Nations Girls Group" by Korea, Jihyo's vocals were always compared to both Taeyeon and Jessica by SONE. People even tried to convince Kpop stans that Eunha (GFRIEND) was a better vocalist than Jihyo, which was even more insane. Jihyo is a better vocalist than Rosé and Miyeon, by a pretty sizable margin. It may not be as big as Seulgi's, but it is noticeable. People always underestimate Twice's vocal line, sure they may not be as good as they were in SIXTEEN, but they still have a solid foundation for vocals.

Well, in my opinion as an overall stan of multiple genres... Jihyo is not overated at all.. a lot of people doubt TWICE these days in general. Jihyo with ZONE is displaying her vocal ability now.. not with all the yelling notes.

Most kpop idols are not really overrated, it's usually only their own fandom overhyping them. Idols who have a real reputation for being great vocalists outside of their fandom (like exo or mamamoo) deserve it (although I do have someone in mind who I think is actually overrated but not saying who lol)

Bruh..,you only mentioned the C5s of Feel Special in Jihyo's case but She has very great moments of those mid belts C5s and C sharp 5s many times.Yes,that's true that she normally forced her vibrato but there are many of great uses too.Such as, Hare Hare last chrous C5 ad-lib.And she has much better abilities than those Miyeon or Rose.Jihyo has more solid and grounded lower register while Rose gets airy in A3 and strains.(Jihyo >>> Miyeon > Rose).Middle Register is Jihyo's strength,she's consistent on most C5 belts now and her technique is far more better than Miyeon or Rose.Both Rose and Jihyo has connected HV but I prefer Jihyo while sustaining the notes,and in consistency. Except in agility Jihyo dominant in all 3 vocal registers.And the real overrated vocalist is more likely to Rose I'm afraid.

I have never seen an artist so universally denigrated and accepted as the "worst" as Selena is. It's wild to see the way people's moral standards shift when they speak about her, I've truly never seen anyone else so openly and ruthlessly ridiculed for their work as she is. People talk about her career as if she somehow doesn't deserve the success she's had, as if she didn't earn it the same way every other artist has. They act as though she cheated someone else out of a career by daring to have one of her own, as if fame and success are finite and she's stealing it from another, more deserving talent. It's truly wild! If it's that jarring and unsettling for me as a bystander, I can only imagine what it feels like to her! No wonder she's been stripped of her confidence! To be universally reference as the "worst" in your field, who could hear that endlessly year after year and still find the self esteem to believe in themselves?? I agree she has so much untapped potential and could really be something special if she was motivated to be, but I can't blame her for feeling unsure of herself. I agree with what was said in the video. Also there are a lot of fans who are completely blinded. Regarding Jungkook and more generally BTS, I listen to them not because they are the best vocalists but because of how they make me feel when I listen to their music. BTS's connection with their fans is undeniable and that's something that many artists aspire to and they just have it because of the way they are. If being the best vocalist was the key to success, I guess all opera singers would be the ones who would carry the industry and that's not the case.
