@cgm: I’m glad that this is a series, with room to spread out & hopefully show us the many wonderful characters from the story; I love the novel very much, & have always thought of Cora as a dark ‘old soul’, so I don’t understand the casting (still less with Kyra Knightley); I really hope that this is not merely a ‘vehicle’ for two major stars... The settings look sublime: the novel so encapsulates the atmosphere of the Estuary, as well as the tales to be told elsewhere - amongst the other characters, I’m glad they’ve included ‘The Imp’ in this production... So, it’s ‘wait & see’, but without any great expectations...I’m sure that the fans of the leads are anticipating great performances - they ARE fine actors.... This being a movie (with special effects), it’s most likely that we’ll see the ‘Fata Morgana’, & other lovelies! NB: I have had the novel on Audible for some time; when the movie release was announced I couldn’t help noticing that this title was ‘queued’; the fact that so many people are becoming interested in Sarah Perry’s wondrous writing can only be good news! Just lay off ‘Melmoth’!!! 🙏🏻💔🙏🏽
