Hi Bill many thanks for stopping by and I appreciate the positive comment! When I caught that fish I actually thought "no skunkin!" based on watching your videos! I'm glad to hear that Mike has the same centerpin setup - I'm still a rookie centerpinner but so far I'm enjoying the challenge! Happy holidays and tight lines to you and your family! Captain Zac

Enjoy your videos. Didn't realize you were from around the Erie PA area. Fairly close to my local fishing grounds (Northeast Ohio). I spend late Fall, Winters, and early Spring chasing the Steelhead in the rivers and Summer's chasing the Walleye out in Lake Erie. Would love to spend one of my Summers up in Alaska chasing Halibut and other assorted bottom fish. Been watching your videos to learn as much as I can to make this happen some day. Keep the videos coming.

Hi Jim thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you are enjoying my videos! How cool that you chase after the Lake Erie combo of steelhead and walleye! I bet you have a freezer full of tasty walleye! I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and my in-laws are from the Erie area so I've definitely enjoyed the fall/winter Lake Erie steelhead runs over the years. Yes it is definitely worth putting Alaska on the bucket list - some summer Halibut and Salmon action combined with a fall/winter Lake Erie Steelhead adventure is a great lineup! If you have additional questions as you get closer to planning a trip, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac

Well done Zac. Didn’t know you centrepin fish, now you’re speaking my language. Water conditions looked good, a bit high but definitely water color looked good. Nice job landing it in that turbulent water. I fished those tribs before when I go visit my in-laws. Walnut and Elk are good throughout the year as long as it stays mild like this year. Happy for you Zac. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hi Adrian thanks for watching and I'm glad to be speaking your language of steelhead on a centerpin! I'm still getting the hang of it but more practice is the only way to get better. I hope you are finding some fish over the holidays! Happy holidays and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac

Hi @josephboisvert8213 thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this steelhead action from your neck of the woods! There is still some 2023 Alaska content in the hopper - the next video I'm working on includes a nice 75lb halibut. Thanks again for watching and happy holidays my friend! Captain Zac

Hi Dane thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this steelhead action! It was great crossing paths in the stream the other day! Did you end up getting any action? All the rain today has the streams very high and muddy - I was out for a quick trip this AM (no fish) but spoke to someone who landed 11 so it can be done in tough conditions! Thanks again and tight lines my friend! Captain Zac

I ended up getting one on 12 mile and 1 on Elk. To your point, I’ve learned that no matter the conditions someone is always killing it. Before I realized that, I used to make excuses when I wouldn’t catch any, the moon phase, the pressure, the temperature, you name it lol. If you will be up this weekend maybe I’ll run into you again.

Hey Dane I'm glad to hear you found some action! So true that someone somewhere is lighting it up when others are struggling for a bite. I was in the stream just the other day and caught 1 while I watched two guys who had a premium hole covered up catch 20+ fish! I just traveled back to Alaska yesterday so it'll likely be next fall until I get back in the PA steelhead streams. I hope you get some action this weekend - should be fantastic conditions with plenty of fresh fish after all that rain! I'd love to hear how you do. Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac

Hi @jonathanproctor690 thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed this steelhead action! While I certainly love the AMAZING fishery here in Alaska, it is always fun to fish the steelhead streams near Erie in the fall/winter timeframe - truly a world class fishery during that time of year! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Hi Alex thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this steelhead action! I started using a light leader because that is what I had on from the day before when the water was low and clear. I switched to a heavier leader after that first fish. Tight lines! Captain Zac
