You mentioned loading your leg as you lean forward does it make sense to load your leg as you rotate in a surfski so that when you start your rotation after the catch you have a little more power??

That's the idea... in canoe you sit higher so that forward lean is more literal. In ski your heels are only slightly below the sit bones unlike the chair position of the canoe.
