What Is Pain Between Shoulders Blades? (What does it feel like)
Upper back pain between the shoulder blades can be felt on one side or both sides of your body. It may be acute (meaning that the pain lasts a relatively short time) or chronic (meaning the pain lasts for weeks or months). You may experience the following symptoms:
A sharp, short burst of pain (spasm)
Dully achy pain that lingers
A burning ache
Pain when you take a deep breathe
Pain that’s local to the area between the shoulder blades, or pain that spreads to your arms or other areas of your back.
Main Areas You May Feel Pain In:
- Shoulder Blades
- Neck
- Shoulders
- Arm/s
Main Muscles that are affected:
- Rhomboids
- Upper Trapezius
- Levator Scapula
- Scalenes
- Rotator Cuff muscles
- Latissimus Dorsi
- And others
This is becoming an increasingly common condition, especially with the increased use of laptops, smartphones and tablets. Using these devices can contribute to poor posture, decrease of range of motion, tightness and pain. that can result to poor posture such as forward head and rounded shoulders. This area gets really tight and weak and it is usually caused by neck pain and stiffness that supplies the nerve connection to that global pain problem on the shoulder blade that most of my [patients usually thought it is a mid back condition. You can differentiate if a scapular pain of you have difficulty with overhead and reaching activities, then it can be best to treat it as a scapular shoulder condition not just an upper back pain condition.
In this video I will be demonstrating 4 best exercises plus a lovely yoga flow in the end for a follow along video to fix the medial scapula pain to engage your upper back and scapular muscles, such as the Rhomboids, major and minor, levator scapulae and to inhibit the upper traps muscles that are usually over engaged and over worked that can result to neck pain and stiffness as well. I I will also utilize an elastic band to fully strengthen taht region and some of the common causes and treatment options you can explore from your home.
