A tip. Use the base color to seal the letter then put your color over it so you won't get any bleeding.

I enjoyed the video and a well done project. It would be best to use a tack cloth for removing the sanding dust and they are cheap. I do a LOT of woodworking and for the base you could use Minwax water based stains in a quart and it lasts forever. Also they have a whitewash/pickling water based stain also. It will have the same outcome and is better for the wood. I would still use the paint for the stencils. I would reccommend using a varnish, polyurethane, lacquer or shellac finish if it will be outside or used a lot. Rust-Oleum or Krylon makes good sealer for this. Again your project looked GREAT!

Have you considered using the stencil plastic and cutting it with your Cricut for the pieces you use over and over (like the Grillin and Chilin). Makes it easier and you aren't using additional materials. Very easy to cut more permanent stencil with your Cricut.

Hi there. Question on the cutting- did you cut it on stencil vinyl or just regular vinyl? I used stencil vinyl to help match up the letters via the lines but then just pulled the stencil vinyl off and it became a sticky mess and I had a super hard time applying it to my wood. So it looks like you just used regular vinyl? thanks!
@BoyMomCentral6 жыл бұрын
Sina hi :). I used 631 as a stencil :).

Being a wood carver, I am wondering if it has been done before....Affix the outer decal (where the red paint goes) with no interior decals and paint the whole thing red inside the decal openings. Then with the second decal showing red paint to be striped, instead of painting it blue, just route it 1/4" deep inside the decal openings leaving the decal in place. After all the wood inside the decal has been routed, spray paint the routed part with blue including the 1/4" sidewalls and then peel the decals off. Hope I am clear to you on this.
@BoyMomCentral6 жыл бұрын
Marc Griffies that would look great! I, myself do not have any woodworking tools lol. Home Depot cut my wood to size for me. You should move here and be my neighbor so you can teach me your ways lol 😁.

When using vinyl as the stencil, there is this sticky residue left on the painted board. Do you ever get that and how do you get that off?

What size is your board & stencil? I am new to the cricut world I didn't think it was possible to fit all of that on 1 cut out. :) Also have you considered using contact paper for the stencil? I read comments and people have said they used the contact paper for dollar tree. Less expensive than using your vinyl. I haven't tried it yet. Well....I will today :) Nice video. Didn't look like a 1st timer to me.
@BoyMomCentral6 жыл бұрын
tsureable Hi :). I prefer vinyl because I have never had an issue with bleeding. If you want a quality product, sometimes cheapest isn't always best :). My board is 12" x 24". I am not sure of the stencil sizes. I just grab a tape measure and go lol. Hope I was some help :).
@Healthycook00016 жыл бұрын
You mention using mod Podge around letters to keep the paint from bleeding. What/how is this done? Do you have another video showing how to do this? I’m going to try my first project soon.
@BoyMomCentral6 жыл бұрын
Healthycook0001 Yes! Before painting, do enough Mod Podge to create a seal. It works great. I have done that on wood that has deeper grooves. No bleeding! 😁

Love that she was nice enough to share her project, but she never said what the name of the transfer paper was (I'm not talking about the vinyl she used as the stencil) does anybody have any idea on the transfer paper? By the way what is wrong with saying what supplies and where you buy your supplies. Don't you know it is a compliment to you that we want to copy or create from your example. That is the whole reason why us crafter's watch the YOU TUBE VIDEOS.
@BoyMomCentral5 жыл бұрын
Hi 😁. I apologize I am just seeing this. The transfer tape I use is from OneSourceStore on Etsy. And it's the Medium Tack. Its very inexpensive. I buy the 100 ft roll, I use a TON and it lasts forever.

Positive ?? How about giving people proper advice. The proper way of doing things, especially if there going to sell the item they make, how nice they'll have customers with items they've. Bought made from cheap materials. I'm sure customers would appreciate there purchases if they last long due to decent materials. 👍🏻

It's upsetting when you see people giving tutorials and advising people to get paint worth 70 cents. People u get what u pay for, spend a few dollars more and get good paint that will adhere good to what ever project your doing. What quality of paint do u think your getting for 70 cents ?? Common sense people, u get what u pay for. A few dollars more won't make a difference in your pocket, but it will when ur projects don't last as u expect them to due to the cheap materials you use. Good luck.
@BoyMomCentral6 жыл бұрын
Christian Mendoza Way to be positive and encouraging! 😁. This is no negativity channel. Feel free to find another one that doesn't mind your negativity. If you actually watched, this was my first ever video. And FYI, I have several wood signs made with "Cheap" paint, that are several years old and still look FANTASTIC! Hope you have a blessed Easter 😁.
@tammyrutland77276 жыл бұрын
Personally, I found that for the weathered look like she is going with the cheap paint works best. The more expensive contains additives that make it stick more to itself than the wood and will/can cause major peeling that you don't want.
@Parisandham5 жыл бұрын
Christian Mendoza there is absolutely nothing wrong with using these paints. I use the same paint and have projects that are over 5 or 6 years old. More expensive does not mean better quality always. She did a wonderful job. You can tell you are a mean person.
