Hi Guys
This is the first of the footage from the painting job I had to do on my boat, this video is mostly showing the preparation I had to do before the actual painting, which was a lot of filling and sanding

I love these episodes with Andy. I feel like I’ve been showing each day for a quick beer and catching up on progress, kicking around some ideas. It’s so friendly and collaborative. One day I’m going to bring him a proper breathing filter mask. Blue face, blue lungs. But, you know how the man is, he has a project and it’s gonna get done!

Well done. Last month I met a woman owner of a Jongert 21S who took her down to bare steel, primed and repainted her by herself, including body lines. Superb job, superb woman!

I would recommend that you glass over the repair that you did on the transom. Even though it's epoxy filler, it is still not all that strong. Just my thoughts based on 25 years of building fiberglass boats.

Completely agree. Either that or: Make up some E-plate and bond that to the inside of the hull over the two holes. That way you will not have to disturb the paint you have applied, but will improve the structural integrity somewhat.

Put a dreadnought sticker over it . Or if it cracks a light

The stainless on the bow will look nice . I like how Hylas has stainless on the deck on the bow by the chain and windlass. Never thought about a matte finish. Here in America we say upoxy . Why I don’t know. I need to go sailing. I feel it . It’s like a curse but a good one. And now that I’ve felt some strong wind and weather . It’s even worse .

Massive job BUT 30K saved thats a lot of cruising & honestly that paint is a great product for roll & tip , Did my cabin sides 9 years ago & still looks like new - Actually got better after time went by seemed to flatten out & smoothed out over a few months ?

Awesome work. Hard work? Work you are not used to perhaps (not being critical). €30k for a months work. Not bad wages imho. What satisfaction to complete this.
