This is a lovely photo from Cronulla! Beautiful morning light! I hope you enjoy this demonstration where I keep it quite simple and don't do too much. I don't have any tissues so that was an interesting exercise for me to paint like that! Hope you enjoy this watercolour landscape painting. Happy painting!

I really love your ability to use watercolor pigments as you wish...clearly you have put in the brush miles and understand how watercolor pigments behave as well as the ratio of water to pigment. No small feat. Thanks for your wonderful demos. You make it look so easy , yet the reality in practice, not so much... I wish someone would have told me 5 years ago that this will take a lifetime to understand, much less master.

Standing back from the painting just highlighted for me the way you focus on shapes, Scott. I love this piece. Thank you. (I hope your tissue shortage is short-lived.)

Yes the thing you don't get when viewing on youtube is any sense of what it will look like from a distance. I agree. From a distance your brain fills in the detail created by the shapes.

I saw you I.G. and followed you here. I have followed this tutorial twice and am very happy with the result of my first landscape watercolour attempt after completing a basic skills in watercolour course on Domestica. I now use tissues for my issues 😄. Thanks for this great tutorial xx

Scott, I really like this. In the foreground where you used the towel, I see a suggestion of a figure to the left of some structure (perhaps a dock or a boat?). Overall, the composition is nice. I might have put the suggestion of some small buildings along the land mass, but I like the way you did it just as well. Thanks for the inspiration! I’m in Missouri (USA) where we’re also enduring a miserable heat wave.

Hi Mimi! Yes I do lift with a thirsty brush quite often but I was looking to create sharp edges and I would normally use a tissue for that. Another better idea than a towel though!!!!! thanks!

A question, why do you use Rives paper, instead of just regular watercolor paper? Or is this the same as watercolor paper? Love your techniques and absolutely beautiful paintings, going thru and watching all of your videos, if mine come out a quarter of what you do, I will be happy, will have to keep on trying... thanks for doing these videos!!!

I use toilet paper with some work Scott. Bit cheaper and usually available. Is it the old Australian Covid wave measure? How available are tissues and toilet paper. Lol. Gorgeous work considering you were handicapped by your lack of tissues.

Hi Celcilia! It is written in the description. 3M magic tape then used the hair dryer to heat up the adhesive to remove it without tearing the paper.
