I've started to prep clean rough up surface of radiator got first coat on of radiator paint and I noticed at back of radiator bottom a small patch of rust so I went out and got some Kurust to treat rust just gotta remove the paint around edges of where rust meets edge of old gloss

The paint on my radiators has yellowed so when I paint it the fins at the top look dirty. Surely they should be painted too?

It's all down to time and money. Generally they get left because it's expensive... it's time consuming. Have been asked to paint them... they look better lot of work

Sorry don't think so. But what I usually do is tie a cloth to some string and on the other end tie something heavy that will fit between the blades. Drop it down and pull your damp cloth through.. takes some time.. but good results. Dust and vacuum first.

Amanda Winfieldale Yes as long as you use B.I.N. primer or a primer that is suitable for copper pipes.

Would nail polish remover degrease and hopefully help remove old gloss ? Daft question but I saw it online and figured can't hurt to try

It may work but it's not the best thing to use. Gloves and white spirit to remove grease and paint stripper to remove paint. The thing with nail polish it will work up the paint and spread it about.

Hi, was just wondering why not BIN the copper pipes rather than open the Fortress special metals primer? I've used both BIN and Bradite one can myself for these in the past.

You can get a better finish with using the Fortress it's more white than BIN. BIN is good but can dry too fast and can need a few coats.

Hi can I use Dulux satinwood water base or oil base for radiator

I have used oil based Dulux satinwood on radiators since it came on the market. It is recommended on the tin for radiators, have to go to trade outlet to get it now.

I watched the video through at least 3 times and I am going to ask a stupid question. Did you thin the Bin Primer by pouring methalated Spirits into it? That wont affect the paints performance in any way? I'm sure i may have seen/heard this before but maybe a long time ago. The reason I ask is becuase I'm using that primer on my walls in the kitchen and I though it was getting a bit thick during painting as i had poured it into a tray. I should copy you here and work from the tin then? I'm using that as the paint had muded (cracking) and I was told by ZInsser to do that after applying peelstop to the wall and using that as a primer then the final coat of paint. SOry for the essay, thast if you even get to this :D

Yes best too thin as you're using it. Evaporation occurs really fast. Thanks

@@PaintingandDecorating it this primer will stop the satinwood from yellowing? or have to use some kind of Radiator Paint. What is the difference with Radiator paints and this method? Many thanks

Not very detailed, Skip some key information e.g. how long you left the ZINSSER B-I-N SHELLAC-BASED PRIMER SEALER to dry off for.

Like your channel / question - my brother repainted his radiator and used wood primer and undercoat then over with finish colour gloss - i am curious as to whether it will be ok / last? what is your thought on this seeming wrong use of paint?

Oil brushes I just keep them in water... cleaning and smell no big deal. B.I.N. primer brushes keep in a big wipes container and it saves the environment. Waste nothing when working for yourself only way you will survive.
