in this video palladium was converted to chloride and then reduced to palladium metal with formic acid
0:35 - 4:39 dissolution
4:40 - 11:50 filtration
11:51 - 13:00 converting nitrates to Ag and Pd chlorides with HCl
13:05 - 20:30 filtration and washing of AgCl
21:17 - 29:05 reducing Pd chloride to Pd metal with formic acid
29:06 - 31:46 reacting sodium formate with silver nitrate

You’ve got about 125ml. Of solution at the start, you need to add 50ml. of distilled water to it for more acid efficiency and to avoid crystallization in solution...

I get the impression from Sreetips that using distilled water on platinum group metals causes that cloudiness. Continuing processing with an acid would prevent that.

filtration separates solids from liquids, if not done right, you'll end up with impure product. if the purity is not of significance, you can allays skip the filtration part.
