Thanks for putting in the time to do this. You both have helped me make a confident decision in this camera. Mine arrived today and I'm particularly impressed with the colour.

Hello Andy, have you or Matt started reviewing the JVC GY-HC500U. I was all hot for the CX350 until I looked at your review. It was very helpful and based on my needs it might not be my best choice. Could you let me know if you plan on reviewing the JVC? Thanks

Curious to see the cx10 and it's ndi/hx streaming capabilities. Along with p2 formats. Looking forward to your review on that.

With this virus about, work has just dropped through the floor so it may be a while before I can justify ordering one now.

Really interesting guys. It was also between the JVC (HC550 I think..) and Panasonic for me. Where did JVC go though? You say they're out, I stopped checking their website! I tried the Sony Z190 and didn't like it, but I totally agree about lower light and output formats. I'd be interested in a separate video about your feelings on streaming Andy.

Hi Andy noticed you and Matt mentioned the new to be realeased March 2020) Panasonic AG CX10 have you actually got to try one and what do you think of the 1/2.5-type (inch) MOS Sensor?? Seems to me as DOF goes and low light it will suffer quite bad what do you think?
@apntv
@apntv 4 жыл бұрын
Ivor Tayler yes, the sensor is small so it won’t be fantastic in low light although it has a fast lens. I have had a play with one and first impressions tend to support that however it could still have its place as a small, light camera, great outdoors, small enough to have a second camera, a locked off wide shot maybe. I’m sure it won’t be for everyone.

DVX200 seems to be the only camera right now with a larger 4/3" MOS sensor *and* a 13x Zoom lens. Wondering if you guys can do a side-by-side compare. No True 4K on the CX350.
@apntv
@apntv 3 жыл бұрын
I’m afraid I have sold my DVX 200 now however, one thing to consider is that the DVX has a 4*3 sensor whereas the 1” sensor is 16*9 so my understanding is that the actual difference in 4K sensor size is virtually the same anyway. True though, there is no Cinema 4K on this camera. To be fair, I never did use it on the DVX, even though we did some content for cinema.

Hi Andy. Very good interview. Exactly what I was looking for. Matt mentioned what alternative camera would he buy. You mentioned that you you have no regrets in buying it. The big nag is the zoom. Have you been able to overcome it? I shoot events, weddings, promotions, corporate stuff. So, the 10bit 4:2:2 is important with SDI and 4K recording. My budget is £3500. What would Matt recommend? Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks, yes 2 years on and I like the camera enough to have just bought a second one, with Matt’s we are doing multicam shoots. The zoom has improved with firmware updates and the camera, while not perfect, does just keep getting better and better for us. Matt had looked at the JVC 500, for me JVC always feels a bit flimsy and not quite up to my expectations although the 500 does seem to have some nice features but it is a whole kilogram heavier. For under £3500 I just got a new 350 and a VZ-Rock Zoom, iris, Focus, start/stop LANC controller. Trying that for the first time tomorrow, I’ll do a new update video soon with some of these accessories and new features.

Andy, Matt, fantastic review on what I think is my next camera! Given your experience with the Panasonic brand, is it likely that they'll announce a Mark II version of this camera in 2021? I have a job coming up that this camera would be perfectly suited for, but I hate buying 2 years into any product, especially cameras. Thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the thorough review.

It is difficult to say in this day and age however they usually run for at least 3 years between models and I know there are still more firmware updates to come with the 350 yet. I’m actually thinking of buying a couple more of these myself yet.

Jaysus, panasonic is bad with manual focus too. 3,7k and no manual focus ring only fly by wire?

Hello, very good video. Do you recommend me to buy this camera or which one would you recommend? I would use it to record sporting events and graduation ceremonies, some would have to be broadcast live. Greetings.

Thanks Andy for this review. I'm looking at this camera to replace my ageing Sony PXW X160. I have a GH5 and a GH5S, which would you compare the low light noise levels of the 350? Like GH5 or closer to the GH5S? Also, how is the manual zoom ring feel, smooth? Can you zoom into the extra sensor zoom with the ring? Thanks for any insights , cheers
@apntv
@apntv 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerald, well I haven’t done direct comparisons, what I can say is we use the CX350, GH5 and GH5S in cinema auditoriums in the dark for filming at the Sundance film festival for example.The GH5S is definitely the best performer so I guess I’d have to match the 350 closer to the GH5. I use a LANC controller for zoom, rather than the zoom ring, but I think it still zooms in to the sensor from that. Just be aware that it’s servodriven, fly by wire, and nowhere near as accurate as a manual lens with hard stops. It frustrated me a bit at first until they sorted out the servocontrol better and now it’s not really a great problem and quite smooth to use. I hope that helps.

@@apntv thanks again Andy. I’m trying to organise a rental to do a show one weekend soon, probably the only way to see how it goes in real life. Can I ask one more question re manual focus :) There was a comment I read about the camera complaining about the lens not being true parfocal? With my Sony I just zoom in 20x to a mark on stage where talent is and set focus, then zoom out and I’m good all night , tac sharp with constant zooming in and out. Do you find the same with the CX350? Cheers
@apntv
@apntv 2 жыл бұрын
@@geraldwebb4501 I do the same, I am pretty sure it is parfocal although I have seen several people say they have seen issues. I haven’t.

Very productive conversation (as usual) - I got an open box UX180 (not a mark on it) for $1,950. I wanted to see what Panasonic would come up with in the NEXT product cycle ether at 1" or a Micro 4/3 DVX200 replacement before I go with an ALL NEW camera. I have a GH5 too so between that and the 180, I'm in no rush right now.
