@@gloriousheropon1189 You are, on both accounts. It's never stated that "those who are unworthy of the monado slowly die", in fact the opposite is stated by Shulk "Anyone can activate it. The problem is controlling it" (Source: "Fiora and Dunban" Cutscene). And those who can't awaken a blade in 2 don't die (at least no dialogue I've seen says that is a possibility, it might have been mentioned somewhere else though), because Tora didn't die, and his inability to be a driver is the reason Poppi is made.

@@Druid-T While it is true it is never explicitly stated they die, we are shown early one that trying to awaken a Core Crystal without being compatible as a Driver causes some kind of backlash that also causes great pain. Not unlike how the Monado does to anyone who tries to wield it for long periods of time (with Dunban even suffered permanent damage from it).

Because they (monolith soft) could just improve Alvis original design instead of change that part. Then the fact that he uses the Monado just like Shulk without getting hurt at all. Then how mysterious he is. Theory at the end, right? I just XC3 and the chance to see Ontos in it (and final scene that connects XC, XC2, XC3 and XCX)

@@bucket6585 When Klaus used the Conduit, it created multiple dimensions and sent half of his body (Zanza), Galea (Mayneth) and Ontos into a different dimension. Alvis has the literal third Aegis core crystal around his neck. Him being Ontos explains how he was basically able to create that dimension and everything in it. There's a lot to it but Alvis is basically confirmed to be Ontos.

Well, that logic doesn't exactly hold up, since both Aegis girls end up coming back. I'd say it's more a matter of Shulk not necessarily wanting Alvis back, unlike Rex who's whole journey was made for the Aegis girls (and of course fell in love with them in the process), alongside the fact that Rex ended up holding onto Pneuma's core crystal while Shulk never really got access to it. This difference probability made it possible for the Aegis girls to reappear while Alvis is just chilling in his core crystal for the right time and person. Or maybe he's just chilling out of sight, since we know he can act without his Homs body anyways, and since the world doesn't have a need for a Monado anymore, he's not going to manifest it or himself.

DragonEdge10 Hmm I may be venturing into the territory of speculation here but if I’m correct Malos and the Aegis Girls were specifically made to into and to fit the blade system by Klaus. Meanwhile Ontos disappeared during the incident. So while Alvis would have similarities to the other two cores of the trinity processor, he is also not prepared to be anything more than the processor unlike the other two. Which is why he comes off as far more robotic within Xenoblade 1. If we go by the theory that he disappeared with the disappearance of the conduit from Xenoblade 2’s world, then it’s possible his lack of being made a blade is why he left with it. We don’t get to see Malos being. Effected by the event but notably the two aegis girls are separated seemingly eliminating the pneuma form in the process. Pneuma being the closest power wise to Alvis and his influence over the world. So it actually does still work if we think of it like that. It’s also possible that the conduits disappearing was a direct result of Shulk’s wish for a world with no gods and Alvis was the one that took the Conduit away. Just my own speculation on the topic. Actually the more I think about it the more interesting the implications would be if future Xeno games or at least the next one featured a return of the Monado wherever Alvis and the Conduit actually went.

Guys, the simplest theory is likely the most plausible one. Mythra and Pyra coming back is likely just someone with the last vestige of connection with The Conduit deciding to give the heroes their final reward for everything. Heck it could even be the The Conduit itself that decided to do so. And its likely the case as it is shown that The Conduit reacted to strong desires. It did created new universe to fulfill Klaus desire for new world (and wanting to be it's god). So it likely reacted to the XB2 characters' (and not just Rex) desire to not part with Mythra and Pyra, thus returning them back again.

That is correct and the role of pc, software is to fulfill objectives set out by the user. It is why he made Zanza and Meyneth as gods due to their desires created a conflict outcome. Zanza wants to become god and Meyneth wants to stop him, but the only thing that can stop god is a god so Alvis made both of them god.

I think the issue there is that the bionis itself would then die. They still need to live on the bionis, they just need to get rid of Zanza.

Alvis is most like the Wave Existence from Xenogears, which the original game indicates by representing him with the same luminescent green cross; both represent the gnostic idea of the “true” God, as opposed to the malicious demiurge (i.e. Zanza). Much of the stuff in XB2 was pretty clearly retconned, in case it wasn’t already clear from the differences in each game’s depiction of the low orbital station and Klaus’s experiment.

To me it is one of the best stuff they ever did. Not only did it made it less obvious as to who Alvis is compare to before ("he wears a key necklace? Oh I get it, he's the 'key' to everything"), it also ties to the Xeno teams love for the Zohar lol.

This book was made prior to Xenoblade 2 being a thing. Xenoblade 1 was originally meant to be a stand alone story. So the Conduit and Alvis being an Aegis weren't originally planned back then.

Actually due to how it’s referred to in Xc2; It’s implied in that game that Alvis is a higher power similar to The Conduit itself: Due to Xc2’s own secret lore confirming that Aegises lived in a Virtual Reality when they were Trinity Processors; Alvis among them (despite technically not being an Aegis). Alvis being a parallel to The Conduit (or Zohar) was hinted at in the original Xc1 because of his true form being the form the Wavelength Existence took on in Xenogears. Another thing Xc2’s secret lore confirmed is that the way the Artifices were made was by the Trinity Processors themselves within that VR world; seemingly as some response to a conflict occurring which activated their abilities. Seeing as Alvis’ color motifs are barely used for any of the Echelons; it’s reasonable to assume whatever that case was; Alvis was A unique variable within all of this, even by Xc2’s lore contributions; meaning he’s probably still fulfilling a generally similar role even after Xc2’s changes.

Elementary, My Dear The way I see him is that though he too is Aegis, that status varies in actual abilities across universes. He holds similar powers and limitations to the other two (visions, monado arts, extreme strength, requiring a driver (or god) to operate meaningfully, administrative control over some facet of the universe, gathering data to help others inform their decisions). Pneuma practically becomes an analog powers-wise in the ending of XC2. It just seems that for whatever reason, Klaus put handicaps on his Aegises. Alvis isn’t somehow an entirely different thing despite having come from the same origins. He is just Aegis or Monado when unshackled and free from the limitations of a creator. I would explain the Conduit vanishing as being a result of Shulk demanding Alvis eliminate divine status. That status was being conferred onto Zanza, Klaus, the three Aegises, and Mayneth due to the power of the Conduit. So how would one eliminate gods? Force away the root of the problem.

edit he banishes according to the final events on Xenoblade 2, one could say it is unclear if this all stems from a time limit of then conduit, the defeat of Malos or the Power of Shulk to relinquish Alvis.

I don’t think that contradicts the original game. He’s still a processing computer. He is still an Aegis (he certainly holds similar powers and limitations to Pneuma and Malos). He vanishes because he warps back to his original timeline, the new one having been purged of gods, and by extension, the conduit. It doesn’t change anything about the events of Xenoblade 1. Just adds more context and detail.
