@@uncov8127 Hasn’t happened since 1918…. And even then it wasn’t this bad. I thought that when I first moved up there and saw the houses built along the river, but after a few years of watching how the river rose and fell it was obvious that it wasn’t as precarious as it looked.

Lucky old man, and smart too, he’s got an insurance. The more I’m adulting the more I understand how important/crucial insurance can be. People who use to say “money” doesn’t make you happy were wrong… well at least money can buy you stability, a roof over your heard, like in this man’s case.

That depends on how far above floodstage that was, and what the highest to date was previously. In my hometown the river floods never made it higher than 10 feet until last year when it hit 14.25 feet.

He will get screwed… just like most people who pay homeowners insurance for decades and when their home is destroyed by flood, fire etc the pricks (whose job is to screw people) at the insurance company will try desperately to find a loophole in their contract to escape culpability. It makes me sick because I have seen it happen to many people in Southern California with fires. I hate all insurance scumbags.
