Your step by step troubleshooting videos are really a treat to watch especially to an engineer who spent a lifetime training technicians in a multinational company. Keep those videos coming. Thanks.

Hi Steve, as an Austrian I would like to say sorry for this fuel pump 😉, we still have some of these vehicles in the army, they were built in super-pretty Graz/Styria. Keep going on! 👍

The fuel pumps may not be so good but these are great off-road machines. I got to ride in one about 20 years ago at Big Bear Lake, California. I am a veteran of the U.S. Army so i have done a little off-raoding in HMMWV and CUCV and M939 and M35A2. I was genuinly impressed with how well the Pinzgauer hadled off road.

Thank you so very much Steve for a straight forward easy to comprehend video! I appreciate how you don’t take it for granted that the person viewing the video remembers the multiple steps that was not seen because you think some are too obvious to include when editing. Taking something apart with your own hands isn’t the same as when viewing on video. Thanks again! Jerry T

Steve, I only found your channel a month or so ago and love it. Could you do a short video explaining how you got into what you do. Whether your family pushed you into it, that sort of thing. And where on earth do you get your knowledge from!

I was taken back when the cover came off but you are so good at trouble shooting the problem. Pretty good access once the cover is off. That is one stout truck. Glad you will have it out again soon.

As someone who served in the Austrian army and drove these things being 6'4 let me tell you from experience they are a pain in the ass to drive and maintain. It was winter and the engine start sound still gives me ptsd. We were ordered out for battle sim and had to drive 50km to another base through the autobahn with no crumple zone and driving 80 km getting around 30-40l of liter per 100km thing swallows more gas than a lambo which is why always had to fuel up the commanders said the second the tank display it less than half it's fueling time! Getting that shit started in the winter took me around 5-10 min. A drill sargeant even put a few drops of oil in the cylinder to make it start. It drives like a go kart but the scary thing is that you cannot let go of the gas once it starts you have to drive or be hovering 90% of the time cs these things cannot idle in the winter unless warmed up enough. Once in motion the steering is fine put parking it is quite the workout. Only good thing are it's offroad capabilities and the engine sound ain't to bad either kinda reminds me of a bmw m3 gtr with straight cut gears because you can hear it loudly in the cabin. As for comfort the seats are decent exept for the fact that they barly move and forward visibility is good however I can't say the same for the back and mirrors and I had no clue about the controls so I touched nothing. To sum it up fun to drive for 15min offroad then you start hating the flimsy gear lever and get annoyed by the engine till you are filled with rage each time it has a problem and it's expensive lol idk why we still use it. There are people who pay 700 euros just to rent them...

I know you have said it in the past but it is always a good thing to run an engine once in a while. Having said that you did find some bits that were not correct anyway so it probably did you a favour by refusing to start! It would be interesting to see a 'carb' rebuild at some point as I haven't rebuilt one for many years. We don't like your life to be difficult Steve but I get what you are saying, it is never straight forward to repair old cars. A quick fix can be anything but! Thanks for the journey Steve.👍👍

I was always taught to never put a fuel filter on the suction side of a mechanical fuel pump because it could cause vapor lock or fuel starvation.

Put a clear fuel filter in line by the carbs. Easy to see. Mine sits for 6 months between running and is always a bear to start. Dry carbs. Always seems to be out of fuel. I must run it till dry.

You didn't do the gravity fed fuel feed test before you rebuilt the pump. Now we don't know if the rebuild was necessary. Sound preventative maintenance for sure but maybe the pump wasn't bad. Soo planning on buying one of these for the FL property. Love the simplicity. Like a 70s VW but with better engine access.

Ouch. Nice video. I used to have a Unimog 404. It had a priming lever on the side of the pump. I didn't realize how lucky I was. Maybe you could install a marine squeeze primer on the supply side?

that is the very last thing I expected under that doghouse, an air cooled 4 cylinder gas engine. Totally expected a straight 6 diesel, maybe with a turbo. This vehicle certainly exceeds all expectations.

THERE ASKING ALMOST THREE TIMES MORE THEN A MORE TRUE LOOKING UNIT YOU COULD BUY ON THE BUYPINZGGAUER WEB SIGHT AND THEY PAY WAY MORE ATTENTION TO MINOR DETAILS TO MAKE WHAT THEY ARE SELLING SOMEWHAT MORE AUTHENTIC.
