Here's making of videos of my Aerith Gainsborough fan art sculpture. In this process I focused myself on the art of sculpting. I hope you guys can learn something trough this videos. I would say that this is definitely not one and only workflow for sculpting characters, but it's effective for learning volume, forms and details.
The video is consist of many different sculpting session put together into one. Any skipped or unrecorded footage is due to technical error.
Any reference images seen in the video I do not own them. All founded in Google and it's all for references and educational purposes only.
Part 1: Contains rough head and body sculpting etc.

Inspiring work! As a beginner in blender and sculpting could you please tell me how you made the clothing mesh by sculpting? You seem to use the claystrip brush on the body mesh. If I do that it just adds some geometry to the torso but you somehow create a seperate Aerith jacket mesh. Stuck in making a dress right now.. please help!
@jvaria9797
@jvaria9797 4 жыл бұрын
Also, even if i somehow make a noob subdivided t-shirt by shrinkwrap, sculpting on it causes the cloth mesh to 'dig in' the body mesh surface. You seem to have the same problem at first but after doing something it doesn't dig in anymore? How did you do that?

@joshuawensley2780
@joshuawensley2780 4 жыл бұрын
@@jvaria9797 He starts by making a copy of the body mesh. The copy becomes the "clothes" mesh. Then, he uses a solidify modifier, which thickens the clothes mesh. I personally would have used a displacement modifier, but I don't want to pretend that I know better than Yudit who's clearly a maverick at this. Then, he uses his brushes while they're set to "subtract" mode, and brushes all the areas that AREN'T clothed. This sinks the clothing mesh down below the surface of the body mesh in those areas, making it invisible.
@jvaria9797
@jvaria9797 4 жыл бұрын
@@joshuawensley2780 Oh thank you sir.. you're a lifesaver. I did manage to find out he duplicated the body mesh after some trial and error but ended up miserably sculpt drawing dyntopo cloth around it.. well going to experiment with solidify and displacement for now! Thanks again!
@Yudit1999
@Yudit1999 4 жыл бұрын
I duplicated the body, add solidify modifer and applied it. Pretty much just sculpt on it until it looks like what I want. It's not a good workflow I would say. But, since it's just a sculpting exercise only. I'm not too worry about it.

hello, why not use masks to create the clothing with extract? im a beginner so i don't know the best way to create clothing yet
