Interesting to bad the military surplus market didn't follow the same pattern as post-World War II, were reasonably good equipment was available for pennies on the dollar. Thanks for sharing

CADRG = Compressed Arc Digitized Raster Graphic. It's a legacy imagery format developed by the Defense Mapping Agency for bringing early digitized maps into weapons and battlefield command and control systems. One of the earliest applications was the digital moving map display in F-15s & 16s. The 'compressed' means they've stripped out a number of raster bits in the file format to create smaller map and image file sizes. That means a lot of the colors can look a bit muddy. Keep in mind that most of these early map systems were early 8-bit setups with very limited internal storage. Every bit counts!

Excellent, the only problem is having a spare 10g's laying around to purchase a setup like this.

In the DAGR & PLGR you can chose the system and Lat Lon is an option. I wonder if that's also the case for the SINGARS radio?

HI Brooke! I could not find any information that would lead me to believe I could change the display to lat/long. But I am still learning about this. Thanks for the comment!

What I don’t understand is how these radio’s maintain a good antenna match hopping across the low band spectrum?

it is a very good question, one I don't have an answer to. Maybe someone else here will respond. There isn't a traditional antenna coupler, but maybe a very wide-band coupling to the antenna. Of course, the size of the antenna will also be of importance for this.

Can you get this to interface with ATAK on a Android device? The mapping is a lot more capable on it.

A friend of mine and I were recently discussing this. He knows about ATAK but I did not. The conversation was short. I think it would be difficult but I don't know how it would be done.

@@w2hxGet an account set up for CIV-Tak, there are several apps that will allow you to use radio and Mesh networks. Browse through them and see if you can find one that works with the older radios. If you can do it with your current set up, you should be able to do it with ATAK.
