This is one of the better commentaries on the Internet. The KZfaq algorithm is not doing you justice. To further your point regarding auctions as advertising, there is good reason to believe that Rolex purchased Paul Newman’s Daytona at $17 mil plus. Smart move for increasing demand and inflating market value. Unfortunately, auctions are viewed as accurate reflections of both. They are subject to even more direct manipulation and distortion. Keep up the good work.

Thank you. What has been happening in the vintage watch world for the last 15 years or so has been absolutely insane. On one hand, a rising tide raises all boats, but on the other, this seems so cynically unhealthy. When the bubble eventually bursts, it will sure be messy.
