This is the true power of animation. It can show anything.

The way Patlabor 1 and 2 move is something special. Watched these on vhs last century. Easily my favorite anime. I wish the seasons had a million more episodes.

What it is about
@tatovive Жыл бұрын
@@ho-leesheet5923 The show is about a group of mobile police misfits. They have mechs, but unlike most shows these mechs are low tech. They have revolvers..if that helps. In this universe there are big robots that are mostly used for construction and heavy labor type things. But people get a hold of robots and chaos ensues. The characters are fantastic. The art style is fantastic. The show covers the whole range, from slap stick comedy all the way up to government plots and intrigue. The movies are beautiful, but may move slow for a person new to the series. The multiple series seasons have a lot more comedy, but is just as serious as it is funny. That ran long. I tried to keep it tight. Here’s my desert island anime list- Patlabor Planetes Full Metal Panic

Yeah, it's a bit of a shame the Early Days+Movies 1 and 2 continuity didn't have more worthwhile stories. Still, at least we got the TV Series+The New Files, even if they're set on a different continuity (kinda like how the Mamoru Oshii directed Ghost in the Shell films and the Stand Alone Complex series aren't set on the same universe).
Love a show that actually treats the military as competent at a reasonable level.

try Gate thus the jsdf fought there. can't go wrong with realistic modern(ish) day military fighting dragons and stuff

I mean it doesn't really treat military organisation the same way a\s real life militaries do. They give Itami waaay too much freedom of operation

@@isaacworrall8004 Gate is just propaganda with realistic weaponry. Sorry to break it to you, but that show was made to try and push Japan to drop Article 9 of their constitution.

@@Gustav_Kuriga Heard of anime but also never heard of the anime that was made to try and push article 9. Where do you get the information from?
I can't say I've seen many animes aside from a few (Akira, Spirited Away, Patlabor 2, and Future War 198X), but I love the aesthetic these older ones had, especially the sheer amount of detail they put into the equipment.

This was soooo ahead of its time! We'll eventually get there, just as soon as power source becomes portable and powerful enough, to juice the whole mecha for a prolonged period of time. This anime is pure enjoyment to watch.
gotta love how the entire setting is told through animation with the ultimate question "no pilot?" which becomes the center focus of the film. and not some genius jesus protagonist with monologuing in their mind.
