My dad with the 8 track. Though we passed by her tour bus once. Mom and dad were so excited. "Look, Jay! It's Patsy! Girls wave hi to Patsy." So we waved excitedly saying we met a superstar. I look back now and laugh. We didn't meet her, but someone waved to us. Mom and dad let us believe it for years. Grandma and Grandpa let us believe it too.

@@tomschmitz5745 There are a few female singers that can sing, but it's not just about being able to sing. That's when things like vocal quality, control, diction, timing, and other nuances come into play. And those things are usually in born. Styles also come into play. Aretha was pure soul, Karen Carpenter was pure pop/crooner, Patsy was a soulful country. These women all had that "something extra" that other great singers don't even have, thats what sets them apart from the crowd. And they were able to very effectively cross over into other styles as well. I don't know about Aretha, she pretty much stuck to soul, and R&B.
@tomschmitz5745

@@Mr.56Goldtop well said, it wasn't just the SOUND of their voices, but how they used it.. diction, (personally i've never heard any singer male or female have better diction and enunciation then karen carpenter) , phrasing, control, the ability to tell the story of the song (which most singers nowadays are utterly clueless about as they sing every song no matter what the song is about the same way and then when they are quote "really getting into it" the only thing they know how to do is sing LOUDER! sadly, so many in the public now think and i think it's because of the horrible american idol and other shows to blame, that the LOUDER you sing, automatically the better singer you are which is so far from the truth!), nuance and so on as you made mention. karen carpenter WAS the ultimate female "crooner" (a term that i think most don't even know what it means or have heard of nowadays! sad)..

Fantastic reaction as always! When I first started subscribing to reaction channels, your channel was one of the first (if not the 1st) react channel I subscribed to. I thoroughly enjoy watching you discover great music (& sometimes, rediscover great music..for instance, this iconic song & artist) from numerous genres & spanning many eras of time. You both have awesome personalities, great banter and chemistry, intelligent feedback & you're thorough when describing how a song made you feel or didn't make you feel. Moral of this story: Ryan...George...You're both great guys (handsome too, but that's just a perk-haha), & I love your channel! You both bring joy to others and make people laugh. I hope to see you both continue to do these reactions for a long time! Thank you, guys..for bringing all of us subs great content & for entertaining us All~

Willie Nelson wrote it at a faster tempo ... Patsy was worried that the background singers (The Jordanaires) would drown her out . Now the song BLUE was written for her but she didn’t get to record it . The jordanaires were also Elvis Presley’s background singers .

Oh, you're so right! Mama Cass was phenomenal, even better solo than when she was part of the Mamas and the Papas (except when she sings the lead in "Words of Love"--amazing!). Thank you so much for doing this guys. You nailed it with the description of her voice. "Haunting," is what she is. Also timeless. Those two words are what hear from others the most when describing her voice, and I couldn't agree more. When I listen to her that voice, it is so powerful it's like she is an angel floating above everything and everyone. I say to myself, nobody can or will ever touch her. No other voice has ever struck me that way before. No one else has even come close. She is just on the highest level all by herself. Thanks again.😊

@@atheistinalabama4206 ~ 👍🎶 I grew up hearing all kinds of music, because my mother and older siblings had many different tastes... My mother was definitely a rock & roll chick, preferring the harder edge stuff, such as AC/DC... And southern rockers, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, etc... My oldest sister liked country music, as Tammy Wynett, Loretta Lynn, Elvis Presley, and The Osmonds... My other older sister liked funk and dance music, such as The Commodores, Ohio Players, and Parliament, and whatnot. I learned to appreciate all of it. Being the biggest music lover in my family, I've added a few of my own favorites like Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Bad Company, plus a few others. I still have my vinyl, cassettes, and 8-tracks. My biggest enjoyment has always been coming home from a bad day at school or work, and listening to music to smooth out the edges. Blessings to you...🎶🦋🎼
