In this song,I would tend to agree. I think the chance to 'sing' with his mate,John reinvigorates his voice. He reaches high notes that he cannot reach at other times. We all age but Paul is a musical genius and no one can ever take that away from him.

@johnschwarzkopf

I had the opportunity to talk with Paul's live sound engineer Pab before the show in Baltimore in June; that segment is so extremely rudimentary - only Abe had a click track in his in-ears for that whole song and Wix had some control over the tempo; I'm assuming with a tap pad or something to adjust the BPM. The rest of the song's performance was guided through the stage monitors. That's the only cue that Paul had. What a testament to how tight he and John were (and how tight he, Rusty, Abe, Wix and Brian are) that after all these years, all he needs to sync up for a live performance of I've Got A Feeling is John's isloated vocals from 1969.

McCartney is playing live with the recording of Lennon made 53 years earlier, still in the same key, still nailing that tricky guitar rhythm, still hitting all the vocal notes and tones perfectly. Just amazing.
Жыл бұрын
The fact that Paul still sings his repertoire in the same key, even with his current voice, is amazing. Guitar rythm is not tricky at all.
@aheendwhz1
@aheendwhz1 Жыл бұрын
@ Well, the original rhythm played by Lennon is kind of tricky, but you can learn it. However, Paul, plays a sloppier version of it. I personally don't agree with singing stuff in the original key being a great idea in this age. In this performance, he still managed to sound good, but that's not true for all of his songs. Songs in lower keys (like Lady Madonna) generally sound better when he sings them these days. Im not even sure if hitting all these high notes is health for his voice. If you compare his vocal performances from 7 years ago with the ones from Billy Joel now, you'll realise that Billies voice sounds stronger and generally better. This is because he transposes almost all of his songs down - since decades. I think, transposing songs down when your voice ages is a really good technique of dealing with a changing voice over the years.
Жыл бұрын
@@aheendwhz1 I know! I meant it's amazing that he's still trying to do the songs in original keys. He pulled it off for decades with great results, but he's stubborn about key changes. I don't think he's ever going to do it. He tried it with that 'Here there and Everywhere' 2016 piano version but it seems like he didn't like it at all.

He's not singing perfectly. There's a frailty in his voice which, given his immense legacy, is quite touching. I love his old man's voice for what it is, it isn't fair to compare. I was in the crowd on this day . Me and my family had come to Glastonbury for the weekend and the Friday before and it was my first music festival of my entire life. We went to see Sir Paul do his concert. I am a huge Beatles fan and was extremely excited and my excitement payed off. After the main concert, we stayed for about a minute before Paul marched around the stage with a Ukrainian flag. He then told us Peter Jackson had isolated John’s vocals from the rooftop concert and they were going to perform with John live again. Me and my whole family were in tears when we heard his voice. It actually sounded like he was really there. This concert was truly something special, and I hope Macca will continue to do live concerts for years to come.

That they were able to sync up Lennon's vocal track to this performance tells you how rock solid Ringo's drumming was. I mean no lag no rushing, just right on the beat.

I think the clip is from Get Back the new film from Peter Jackson. They used AI and other tech to isolate all the different components of the tracks from mono recordings from the time. So I think it's likely that John's singing has been isolated from the drumming.

Paul still rockin' at 80 years old. I saw him in May of this year at the Oakland Arena. I had never seen him play live, so I had to go this time around. Paul moves around the stage like he's still in his 20s he is amazing. I know people that are younger than him get around with walkers and canes, and very shakey afoot, but Paul steady as a rock throughout the whole 3 hours he was on stage rockin' away...he's amazing, and you got to know that he will continue to rock, as long as he can, because it is so much a part of him...he needs to perform, its in his DNA...and I'm appreciative of that!😁👍🎶

I even got to play on a rooftop unsanctioned by the authorities (wonder where the boys and I got that idea ?) and I also have some friends that I used to play and sing with that are no longer here with us. I can’t even imagine what Sir Paul was feeling when John popped up on that screen. Thank you Paul, for being my inspiration to become a bass player, a songwriter, and thank you Peter Jackson for giving the world the opportunity to hear these two sing together across time and space.
