I don't remember the last time I played a game lower than 1080p. Lately I've been playing games on ultra settings, and even downscaling my resolution to 1080, because I think it makes the AA look a little better. I've been contemplating 4k for a long time, because I CAN do it. However, I believe my next upgrade will be to a 1440p monitor so I can keep that nice 120-144 hz refresh rate.

These "debates" almost never consider gamers who play multi-platform, for some odd reason. Personally, I'll game on anything that plays games, and I have a collection of every console and handheld I could get my hands on since the NES (I had the Atari console, but I sold it during a period when the demand was insane). I love my PC for gaming... and well, everything, but I love to play on my consoles too. Where are people like me in this conversation? Oh and let me add, this guy keeps telling PC gamers to stay out of the conversation - but HE is the one who keeps talking about PC gaming... pure comedic gold...

Why do I own a console if I game mostly on my pc rig? Because exclusives! That's the only reason and I hate it. I love the Persona series and I wanna play Persona 5 But it will be only on PS3 and PS4 I love Uncharted. Only on PS3 and PS4. I hate exclusives because it limits me, the consumer, NOT to use my preferred machine to game on. Uncharted 4 looks amazing but imagine that running at 60fps and maybe even better quality. My 2 year old GTX 760 still gives me a better experience than consoles, and you can get those for $100 if you look in the right places. "PC gaming is expensive" is such a bullshit claim. Is my PC high tier? No, but I can still run games at 1080p at 60fps, I can play super modded games and I've never had to buy a game for full price. Hell, my PC is also my workstation and makes me money. I've basically made back my initial investment, and then some.

I built the PC I'm currently writing this post with back in summer of 2016 and I managed to get 8TB SSHD, 32 Gigs RAM, Two GTX 980 Ti's (superclocked) SLI bridge, 1,200 Watt power supply, i7 X-99 Gaming motherboard (8 core), Liquid cooling system, fully tricked out LED lighting for the interior, a solid aluminum corsair tower with tons of room to upgrade, 5 LED lit fans with a touchscreen fan control unit built into the front of the tower, 14 USB ports total in both the front and back, and the best BluRay burner/player available at the time. It only cost $6,500 (shipping included). I don't know where in the hell he's getting this $12,000 figure from. If I had ordered all the parts separately and actually assembled everything myself I probably could've gotten the whole thing for around $5,000. He is off by literally %100. I never grasped the idea of people taking advice about gaming PC's from other people who don't own nor have any experience with gaming PCs. It's like going to your optometrist and getting his advice about what to do for your back pain.

This is Somewhat related to this video. It's about a conversation two of my friends had that basically sums up the console market. One of my friends was arguing about how the XBox One can run games at 4K 60 FPS, My other friend was telling him that the XBox One wasn't even as powerful as the PS4 because of games like Fallout 4 having worse a framerate on XBox One and how the PS4 port of SF5 was being used at EVO 2016 because it's more stable or something, and how the XBox One's ports are usually 720p and not 1080p. The entire time they were having that conversation I was behind them minding my own business and playing Pokemon Moon on my 3DS

The difference is that a pc manages it's resources in real-time on the fly, meaning it's memory, cpu and GPU consumption is dynamic. A console has reserves of sorts for its os, and other background processes like downloading games. It can't manage it's resource consumption in real time. For example, PS4 has an 8 core Jaguar CPU(🤢) but only 6 of its cores are usable for games, bcos 2 cores are reserved for the os. It has 8gb of gddr5 memory but only about 5.5gb is usable for games, bcos about 2.5gb of memory is reserved for the os. And about 150 to 200gb of its storage is reserved for the os. No machine can dedicate all of its resources just for an application or program, bcos in order to run a program it needs some kind of an operating system and Application Programming Interface(API) to run that particular program. Consoles are restrictive even in the most technical sense. It has restrictions starting from the core of its hardware itself.

I have 136 games on Steam, 6-7 on UPlay, and about 10 on Origin... ALL of them can run 1080p 60fps or higher. WTF is this guy even talking about? Even freaking KOTOR can run 1080p, and that game is 15 years old back when 1080p TVs were stupid expensive, and people still gamed on CRT TVs and monitors. It'd be very difficult to find a PC game, especially a modern one, that can't run 1080p or higher. The consoles still have to upscale to 1080p, with very few titles actually running native 1080p. I mean, damn, son, Doom (2016) runs at 140-160fps on 1080p with maxed settings; XBONE can't even touch half that, much less run it in 4K.

I've owned a console my whole life up until this point. I've had my pc for a few days now and it feels like heaven. However, you can still have an amazing time on a ps4, and I'll never forget that. I'm not a super rich person so it got me through some hard times when a pc simply wasn't available. I'll never forget my 100s of hours of skyrim on my PS3, my first playthrough of the uncharted series, and crying my eyes out in The Last of Us. However, this doesn't excuse the corporate bullshit of the console market, the extremely limited selection of games, the inferior framerates, and the shitty aiming controls. I'll be the first to say the pc is far superior to the console, but I will always be thankful for my consoles, and the memories I've made on them. I'm just ready to move on to the next step in my evolution as a gamer.

I can confirm, I've got an MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X and I'm running BF1 at full ultra 1080p at 80fps stable, I'd wager i could go 1440p but as you said, its a choice to go to higher resolutions, and I only have a 1080p screen so I don't really want to.

Consoles are for people who give 0 fucks about quality or being able to make their game do what they want, not what the devs want. Up until recently mods were unheard of for consoles, and are still very limited. PC's can be upgraded in 5 year or even 8 year spans and still be relevant to current technology and games, oh you can also still play with your friends when you upgrade PC. Upgraded from 360 to X1, well if your buddies haven't yet, then you can't play with them. Not to mention PC's can give much higher graphical fidelity than a Console could ever hope, better key customization, more accuacy with the mouse in FPS games. (With a good mouse. Not a Dell mouse...) Oh, and I can Multitask on my PC. I can have Netflix on one monitor, a forum or redit on another, Steam another, and a game on the center. If I want to go troll mode, do triple monitor. FOV for days. Can console do that? Face it, Consoles are for kids and people who dont understand how to build and maintain a decent PC. PC's will always be better.

Stopped listening at 3:45. The consoles DO have lots of 1080p 60fps games, especially the PS4. I have tons of them. And btw, I am typing this on a PC. I think Nxtgen720 and the whole BGST crew are a bunch of pathetic bottom-feeders. But, when a PC gamer spews the same tired false line of "consoles can't do 1080p 60fps!" when all one has to do is some basic research to find that this isn't true, it makes that person no better than the BGST. Do all of those games maintain a constant 60fps without drops? Few of them do, sure, but plenty of PC games have drops too, maybe not as dramatic on higher-end hardware, but they DO still happen. I'm out.

SO, I just got hit with Steam's latest hardware survey and I have some interesting information regarding resolution. Steam recognized my resolution as 1536x824 when, infact, it is running native 1080p. I have a multimonitor setup, however I often swap different configurations and swap to my television (all monitors are 1080p, btw). One thing that may be screwing this up is that I have the Windows UI magnified at 125% because my PC is often running a Win10 based HTPC interface for my television when I'm not gaming. Regardless, the television resolution is 1080p. It would not be surprising if Steam is incorrectly identifying resolution for other users as well.

What is this "holidays"? We all know which holiday provides the most financial movement and it is not Kwanzaa.

I like gaming on a PC. What I don't like is within a year my PC slowing down, lagging, and/or freezing. When it comes to PC's I'm not a gearhead, so to speak. Tried to learn the ins and outs but nothing sticks. My brain just isn't wired for it. I have a surface level knowledge, enough to install and play. So when programs don't respond, applications are slow, or games won't launch (lookin at you Steam, which I had hoped would simplify things), I just go to the Xbox because it's headache free. I have a stripped down tower that I'd like to make into a gaming rig, but it all seems very cost prohibitive. For the cost of a videocard I could buy a console. Even that used one you referenced. I don't have it in me for the constant upkeep and updates for every new game that comes out, which is why I prefer to play shit from ten to fifteen years ago (snowblind, the unreal series, Rainbow six) and keep my consoles for newer titles. I've really enjoyed your videos Rags, genuinely but when when you say "PC's will always be backwards compatable" that's not really true is it? I still can't run Descent probperly. Yes. Descent. I loved that shit. Unreal Tournament 2003 won't play. It installed just fine. Won't launch though. And Steam? I bought SiN Episodes: Emergance and it won't launch from the Steam app. Neither will Rainbow Six: Lockdown. Problems I just don't run into on the console. I don't care for 4K, I don't care for HD graphics, I just want a smooth framrate and fragging fun. But I got games I can't play because they won't launch, won't run properly, or the PC that barely has anything else on it lags and can barely chug along. With Unreal. And not UT3.

The last thing I will say on this is a BIG reason to switch to PC is how easy replacing hard drives tends to be (unless it is an old Dell case lol, had an ancient Dell with a Pentium 4 in it that I bought for 90 bucks just to run Ubuntu and other various Linux distributions, this was about 6 years ago btw, besides, who in their right mind would buy a Dell to game on?). Replacing the 500gb hard drive with a 2tb hard drive in the PS4 was a PAIN IN THE ASS! Not to mention that it had to be a laptop hard drive, bullshit. I downloaded the software to do the BIOS update, didn't work, needed a different version, then needed another different version, was difficult to get the case apart in the first place, if it had been a PC, just take the side of the case off, unplug the SATA and power cables, remove drive, replace, format, your good to go. 2 hours versus 10 minutes if that. At least Microsoft gave people the ability to use external (I believe they were USB 3.0) hard drives with the Xbox One. Can't wait to upgrade to a 10 core i7 and 128gb RAM!!!

I don't hate PC at all and recognize it has higher quality and everything but I personally am a console player on ps4 and play call of duty competitively. It's just annoying when people try to force me to change. I don't have the money to switch and the computers I have now are really low quality. Please keep this in mind that not everyone wants to switch or that they maybe just don't have the money to.
