Consoles pros... 1: The OS is like a well developed linux based OS, developed to only run well with games. 2: Underpriced hardware. 3: Only comes in one or very few hardware designs. Making it easy to massproduce, lowering the cost to make and later buy the console. 4: Heavily relies on ROM storage formats like chip, cd, dvd and blueray-dvd. Reducing the need for expensive HDD or SSD memories. The HDD tend to be the first thing the breaks down in stationary computers. Consoles cons: 1: Only comes with one or very few hardware design, giving you very litle freedom if you want to pay extra for a more powerfull console or pay less for a less powerfull console. 2: The games are overpriced because the developers have to pay the console developers a fee for using the underpriced platform (which sounds reasonable). 3: Consoles are starting to turn more and more in to PCs. This is ruining the whole concept of the console to begin with and people should be fucking pissed about it. I mean the PS 3 was even designed to run fucking windows on it for gods sake. (This ofcource aplies mostly just to gen-7 and gen-8 consoles) PC pros (asuming you are using windows)... 1: The OS is designed to decently do allmost what ever you want to do, from making orchestral argangement with Sibelius to no-scoping someone in the latest call of duty game. 2: The OS uses smart solution to with realativly high efficiency swap between working in very different ways. Like directly going from gaming to surfing on the internet. I think there is this smart system that tries to predict your future actions and plans ahead of your actions (not that it allways work, but mostly). 3: You can make your PC extremly powerfull if you got the money. With OS ability to work on a large variety of hardware builds and can run a 64 bit processor you can have like a 1TB RAM on your computer. I mean to go beyond that you need to buy a freaking supercomputer-OS to handle your components. My 1,600$ gaming computer only haves a 16 GB ram. 4: There is a wide range of hardware developers that are all suported by the OS. This leads to competition with in the hardware market, lowering the cost of the components. 5: Popular amongst game developers due to the simplicity of developing the games to it. 6: The developers don't have to pay a fee for using the platform, making the games cheaper. 7: You can make a PC run emulators of old consols (though I prefere to play on the actual consol) :D. 8: A PC can be made to play games developed to much older generations of the OS. 9: Because of the fact that you do pretty much everything decently well you get more for your money if you want to do more than just gaming. Lets look at it like this: A console is a 10/10 when it comes to gaming and a 0/10 when it comes to media. A mac-pc is a 1/10 when it comes to gaming and a 10/10 when it comes to media. Then a windows-pc is a 7/10 when it comes to gaming and a 7/10 when it comes to media, meaning you get more for the money. PC cons (still asuming you are using windows)... 1: You pay for more than you need if you only want to use it for a short range of purposes. 2: Because the OS is made to handle a wide range of different working modes it automatically have to use more computing power to administrate your use of the computer. 3: Similarly to part 2, it will take a more complex and computing power hungry OS to be able to adapt to hardware from different developers and different hardware builds. 4: Doesn't run games as well as a console with a similar hardware setup. 5: You pay more for the hardware for a PC than for a console. 6: Huge problem with virus and safety, forcing you to either take a huge risk or waste RAM on firewalls. 7: The dependans on RWM will decrease the lifespan of your RWM if using HDD memory. Forcing you to do alot of work retrieving stored data from your crashed computer. 8: The OS is notorious for its ability to crash. .... and so on, you get the point...
