Gooday and yes it's lunchtime - or dinnertime as they call it in the north of England.
These recent cooking videos have been about quickness, lightness and . . . er . . . healthness. This time round it doesn't get much quicker, lighter or healthier than Pea & Ham soup.
Join me as I tear open a bag of peas, chop a spud and get my blitzer out.
Also in this video, I answer another health-related question, as well as one (many) asking why I boil water in a kettle (?)

I just love how people feel the need to ask about your personal life, current medical status etc. Just keep doing what you do Kevin and don't respond to the weirdos. Totally making this soup BTW...I love a proper ham hock though...very cheap from the butcher! All the best bonny lad!

I've been watching you since you first appeared on Amazon. Your videos have been a huge salve for my anxiety-ridden brain. I just want to say how much I particularly enjoy your cooking segments. I live in an American sized home with an American sized kitchen, BUT the interior designer was clearly not a cook, because there is a serious lack of functional worksurface or cupboard space. Hence, I have very limited cooking equipment and can't cook anything that requires a lot of "faff". Your recipes are perfect! You do such a great job of showing what culinary tastiness you can achieve in a real situation. Thank you for providing such quality content. I'll be a fan whether you're cruising or cooking or camping. Take care from Ohio - where sadly our canals are all but forgotten.💓

I used to use a ham joint or ham hocks. This takes time because you have to drain the water off to get most of the salt out of the meat. I use green split peas, lentils that don’t need soaking. And I add half a cup of garden peas so you get the soup consistency and the freshness of the garden peas. Nowadays I don’t use a joint of ham or hocks. I use bacon lardons which creates a nice stock throughout the cook process. I add a teaspoon of fresh mint sauce to serve. Super! I’m making barely broth today with lamb but I have to soak my pulses overnight for this and my meat will need cooking for a coupon hours. Haven’t had it for a while. But looking forward to it.
