The HyDryve II pedal system makes maneuvering in shallow water or around aquatic plants, an absolute breeze, and by using the power of your legs, you’ll be able to go for long distances without getting tired.
We have made several improvements on this new drive, such as the use of 2205 stainless steel rods, stronger aluminum pedal arms, improved sprocket design, and a redesign of how rods are mounted into the core. To prevent damage to the actual kayak, we have specially designed an independent housing in which the HyDryve II sits. This ensures if too much torque is applied to the pedal drive, the kayak remains undamaged and the housing is easily replaced. The HyDryve comes with a one-year limited warranty and features adjustable pedals as well as adjustable foot straps to ensure a comfortable position. Also, our footrests are double-sided and optimized for either barefoot use or use with boots and shoes. And, while you have to reverse the HyDryve II to go backward, we have made sure that insertion and removal of the pedal drive are simple and quick.

*We have taken it out twice so far and love it **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it only takes 5 mins to inflate. Seats are comfortable, kayak handles well. We love it so far!!*

Bought mine about a year ago. Had 4 kayaks, never considered a Pelican, But after Marty Zoffinger recommended it thought I would give it a try. Great boat, not one complaint. By the way I'am 75, ocean, lake and white water kayak.

Thank you for the review. Thinking about buying pedal drive kayak. Love fishing kayaking! Been doing over 10 years. Different types kayaks. But never pedal drive, because it's expensive. But pelican make it cheaper than hobbies now. So I might invest few months down the road. For my KZfaq channel

You guys should make a plug for the hole, for when you don't have the pedal system in. Like the Hobie cassette plug.

@@katebeckinsnail910 Just talked to customer service. They are sending the new drive. My 2020 boat had the 2019 drive. Very happy with Pelican service.

I have a PA14 and have literally never used that plug. I did however, just finishe the MR340 in that boat. Love it but this would be a nice, light weight alternative!

I picked this kayak up Tuesday and I love it but man the pedals feel stiff. I am not sure if that breaks in or if it just where I have not even ridden a bike in 20 years and I need to adjust. How much resistance should I feel with the hydryve system?

Just bought the catch 110. Kayak works good. The seat is garbage. They use generic plastic clips for the seat adjustment. The second you lean back they snap. West marine was good. They replaced my straps and clips. Annnnnd the same thing happened the next time on the water. Very cheaply made. I believe that pelican would replace them again but I don’t want the same trash so I’ll take it upon myself to make something that actually works. I weigh 210 lbs. no where near the capacity.

Im 250lbs would the yak be ok i know its a 350 capacity i plan on having light tackle with me also anyone know if they replaced the plastic pulleys in the drive that are massive problem

I purchased a Catch 110 HD11 on July 1st, 2020. Upon unboxing of the drive system, I found that the box contained two RIGHT pedals. I called Pelican customer support & was instructed to submit a warranty claim, and provide pictures of the serial# tag and pedals, of which I did. As of date, I’ve had no response from Pelican. I do understand times are difficult right now. I called Pelican customer support for the 2nd time on July 8th. As I began to tell the lady that I received two RIGHT pedals, she began to argue with me stating that both pedals are the same and there is no right or left side. I responded that they are clearly labeled & told her that I e-mailed a picture showing both foot pedals are labeled as RIGHT. The lady was rude, and stated that the picture was not good enough to warrant action on Pelican’s behalf........just ridiculous. I don’t like to bash and am not trying to bash anyone, but this lady was more defensive versus willing to help. The picture I provided clearly shows both pedals labeled as RIGHT.....which I thought was pretty self explanatory. My sister-in-law also purchased a Catch 110 HDII and her pedals are labeled as RIGHT and LEFT just as should be. I’m not impressed so far! I love the kayak, but not the support. Makes me wish I would’ve just waited on the Old Town kayak I had on order.

LOL... That's a scupper hole. It allows water to LEAVE the kayak but you can get plugs for them just about anywhere. Get a cork from the local hardware.

Hello Derek. The HD110, even if it's shorter, is still very stable. We tested it with a 6'1'' model and he could stand up easily. Looking forward to have you feedbacks on the HD 110!

The drive with the fins down act as a keel. Very stable for standing or travelling in rough waters.

Does the advertised weight include the seat and the pedal drive?

I'm guessing probably not as you would remove them when hauling but I'm not sure. The seat is feather light and the drive isn't heavy at all. Did you check the specs on the Pelican site?

Man that’s a Feel Free kayak. Feel free to spend the minimum 2 grand to get one in a pedal propulsion system. I’ll gladly pay another $100 for a quality cart as opposed to an extra $800 for a Feel Free.

Moderate this!!?? Buyer beware: The shell isn't bad, stable enough, comfy; I've caught a ton of fish in the this boat. After only 70 miles (6 months) the set screw that holds the rudder cable has chewed through the cable ($40 replacement from Canada took a month,) go get 1/16" stainless steel cable from your hardware store. Now the Hydryve (direct copy from Hobie) has failed, the idler cable snapped. No replacement from Pelican except a complete "core" replacement ($369 BUT isn't available for purchase from Pelican or any retailer....which pelican site directs you to "find a retailer.") Pelican will sell you a complete Hydryve replacment for $550 (which I assume will take another month to get)....have contacted Pelican countless times in the past month, no reply. Take your money and the money you will have to spend and buy a Hobie or AT LEAST plan to buy a Hobie Mirage drive (parts are inexpensive,readily available, and fast to get,) fits right in the Pelican chassis.

Kinda good advice. If you are new to kayaking and you can't afford a Hobie this is a pretty good choice for getting into kayaking. Sounds like you are an avid kayak fisherman. You should have gotten a Jackson!

Hi There! Our products can be used in the ocean, however, you would need to rinse your kayak after each use to avoid corrosion. The color for The Catch 130HDII remains the same for 2020. However, The Catch 110HDII can also be found in Granite at Academy later this spring.

Sold this kayak no more than a year of having it. pedal drive broke, was sent the wrong parts. never addressed again. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever!!!

You lost my sale the moment you showed you needed to completely remove the drive unit and flip it around for reverse, then do it again to start back forward. I cannot see another kayak out on the market that has more hassle to go in reverse than this does.

Well, having owned a Hobie previously this is basically the original mirage drive. Nobody complained then about the fin drive & it’s flip to reverse inconvenience. If you want a Hobie 180 drive it’s easily $1k alone for the instant reverse. Add a kayak on top & your talkin $3k-$5k total depending on upgrades. The Hobie mirage passport is the same price, same weight, same length, same drive, less stable, cheaper seat & less included upgrades but carry’s the Hobie name. For some, that’s everything. For others, the greater value is the deciding factor. Not sure when the patent on Hobie’s 180 drive runs out, but I gotta presume it’s not for another few years. So until then, it’s buy a Hobie & eat the cost. Or, deal with not having an instant reverse.

Absolutely worst product on the market. It is now my life mission to warn everyone about the poor quality and frankly safty risk it is to be far out on any body of water this this system. I've owned my pelican 110 for 2 years, previous owner for 6 months (no wonder he sold it to me) I've been through 3 hydrve system (all had the mid pulley cable snap) and 2 has the bottom drive break where there is plastic on metal. All I ever asked for were replacement parts and pelican will not send cables or the bottle drives out separately. It's funny Hobie does and you can actually put Hobie drives on where the fins attach if you are cursed with eh pelican products. There are many fixes, but you better me MacGyver because pelican WILL NOT send you replacement parts. They demand you buy a brand new $550 drive instead of a $15 to $25 part. By Hobie (and i am by no means sponsored by them)

@PelicanSportVideos unfortunately I am 1 month past the 3rd replacement and honestly I shouldn't have to replace anything that many times in less than 2 years. Pelican refused my warranty request this time. I find it very hard to believe that these issues continued for me (even though I am meticulous on maintaining my equipment as I was using the setup to film content for a TV show on the World Fishing network the summer of 2022). The setup got good air-time and frankly I spoke to hundreds of people while traveling. Unfortunately, I will not be able to say good things about this product any longer.
