Day 10 on the Pennine Way sees me make the 20 mile trip from Middleton in Teesdale to Dufton. Great sights along the way included Cauldron Snout and High Cup Nick.
I’m walking the Pennine Way to raise money for MIND. If you would like to donate, you can do so here:

High Cup Nick is stupendous. What a day's walk that was. You are doing great. I pray that your feet hold up, because you have done so well. Keep on buggering on. You can almost see the finish line.

It’s sounds like your accommodation has been a bit hit & miss. Not providing breakfast isn’t great either. Loved the waterfalls & rugged landscapes. I can see why you picked this trail. So much to see & take in along the way. 😀

Yes, some of the accommodation has been poor. There isn’t much choice in some places though so it was a case of make do. Tonight’s accommodation in Alston is excellent though. Just tucking into homemade steak pie as I type this 😆

That didn’t sound like the best of places to stay 😬 Some nice waterfalls on that section! Some of those steep valleys look stunning too…. Nice one. Day 11 today, you are doing well 👍

Climbing up past Cauldron Snout was fairly easy the first time I completed the Pennine Way in 1979 (at the age of 22) as it as just me and my 20kg backpack, the next time I did the PW (40 years later in 2019) when I also had my still camera backpack with me, and extra 15kg. So it was a case of put the camera backpack (which I normally carry on my chest) bag up first and climb up wearing my 25kg bergen. Stilll I made it to the top and then stopped at the first farm (past the Dam) for Coffee and Cakes at the small cafe the farmers wife had opened. Before going on to High Cup Nick for another combined coffee brake and panoramic photo shoot, before continuing to Dufton. Last year 2021 I redid the Middleton to Dufton route again before hiking onwards to Kirkby Stephens, Keld and Richmond carrying similar baggage. Such Happy memories . Thank You for sharing your Hike via KZfaq. Tony in Essex

Hi Tony. Great to hear your PW story. I have a lot of admiration for anyone who completes the walk and carrying all that weight makes the achievement even more impressive. It’s an amazing trail isn’t it and one I’d love to walk again. Thanks very much for watching

Watching this eating a leisurely late breakfast of a bacon and egg sandwich and a cup of tea…the only exercise my feet face today is a walk round my garden with my Labrador…:) But I am repacking my bergan ready to start hillwalking again. An excuse to buy some gucci new kit to replace stuff that’s got lost, stolen or broken over the years :)

Hi Anthony! Still playing catch up 😁 Fantastic scenery along the Tees on this section👍 Never visited that area before either, so will have to get up there some time. Chris J-B found a fantastic little camp site nearby that we might try. All the best👍

Magic. So many memories in that one Anthony. I wondered if you were going to stay at Brow Farm. As a student me and a couple of fellow students lived in a caravan in one of their fields during the World Cup summer of 1994. I think the couple who had it were called Chris and Wendy Swinbanks.....or similar? They were really nice people. I'm a sentimental old fool and often hark back to those days. Re the music, I wasn't sure if it was the 'misty mountains' you were getting at or the fact you were in 'Dire Straits' 😀 . Good tune either way 😎. Say hello to my old pal Cross Fell today..🙂
@AnthonyJohnson1

Definitely the Misty mountains Chris, although my feet were aching after that long day yesterday. I think the current owner is selling Brow Farm. I wasn’t impressed last night if I’m honest. The owner just didn’t seem interested which is to be expected I suppose. Loved Cross Fell today by the way

Had fish n chips many a time in that shop in Middleton in Teesdale and been to Cauldron Snout and High Cup Nick many times too, as they are all within an hour from home for me. Fish n chips, pastries, just as well, just as well you are burning off those calories every day lol. I have been going to High Force since I was a kid and the walk from Middleton in Teesdale to High Force is one of our favourites. Just back from Scotland, so a mile behind with everything but I had to watch this one. I have looked at one of those Garmin's for a long while, so would you recommend them? Good to see you got decent weather and great views from High Cup Nick and amazing effort doing 20 miles, I take my hat off to you! Cheers Alan

Thanks Alan. Hope you had a great time in Scotland. I’ll catch up with your video when I’m back home and have decent WiFi. I loved this day of the walk. It was epic. I think those Garmin inreach are probably worth it if you’re regularly walking in remote areas with no phone signal. You do have to pay a monthly fee though to access the SOS feature but you don’t have to commit to a contract or anything. I’ve just subscribed for the one month only

A few days behind the vlogs at the moment but I think this part was my favourite day when I walked it with the running water, also watch for brown snakes in the long bracken, most long distance walkers that wild camp don't have a shower or bath for the duration of the journey so you are living in luxury showering daily
@AnthonyJohnson1

A shower every day certainly helps with the morale. A bath even more so
